Can someone please tell me the difference between the RJM/ATC Model 1 and the Lagana model?ATCVD19.webps-l1600.webp

I noticed the head of the Lagana model doesn't have RJM USA cast into it but is there more?
Thank you to everyone in advance.

Well, the RMJ/ATC was based off the Lagana hawk, so differences in the head should be largely superficial. I've only got the RMJ/ATC model but can say that mine came with an unsharpened beard, whereas I think the Lagana Hawks had sharpened beards. I'm sure others with more experience will chime in.

The "American Tomahawk" brand was owned by Peter Lagana for many years. When Lagana finally hung up his 'hawk, Ryan Johnson (RMJ) purchased the brand. The current AT Model 1 is as close to a current production Lagana as you will find, with (arguably) some improvements, like a stiffer handle that has better texture. As oldmanwilly oldmanwilly pointed out, the original Laganas had a partially sharpened beard, and the Model 1 does not.

The differences are very apparent when you compare them side by side.

RMJ - ATC , better fit and finish, less flex in the handle, better sheath, better edge geometry for cutting, better purchase/grip

ATC VTAC - Better for general demolition of things, obtuse edge with a convex secondary, more flex in the handle, came in a few different sheath types - the good sheaths were made by spec ops brand.

Both are great for throwing, both are nearly indestructible, Both are 1060 steel.

The ATC VTAC takes a little work to get sharp but it could hack through cinder blocks if need be.

I’ve had the opportunity to own about 5 of the VTAC models, all had differences in edge thickness, hand sharpened.

I’ve had about 4 of the model 1 and they were pretty much identical, besides the 1 with hickory handle.
