RMD cut test video

It's complex but the stone you have is at the very limits of its usefulness on the steels you are sharpening. (the steel is almost as "hard" as the stone)

It's the reason for the different appearance and likely differing levels of sharpness your seeing.

thats odd i wouldn't expect 13c27 to be THAT hard, s30v maybe, it leaves a "bright" finish on my ats-34 but not mirror like the 13c27
 
That's not hardness but wear resistance, S30V and 13c are usually around the same hardness. The steels hardness is not really the hardness I'm speaking of, its the things within the steel and how they react with the stone.

acording to that link and his rating system my kershaw blur in 13c26 is about 5/10 with my stone, it does remove metal and a good amount but puts a fairly high polish heres a pic

sorry my camera is a 2mp cell phone :o

and as for it and the swamp rat if i compared it to the link its about 7/10 or 8/10 with lots of steel removal and a dull finish

on the ats 34 gerber i have its about 4/10 i'd say
