^^^ real talk JavaHog... :)

Plenty of people around here have sold for profit, myself included. No shame in getting what someone else is willing to pay...

I sold a Busse knife on Ebay once. The fee's from Ebay and Paypal were around $35.00. You can support this site for $ 25.00 and get a Gold membership for 1 year, which allow's you to sell here. That is quite a bargin when you think about it that way and wish I had done it sooner. I lost quite a bit on that knife and learned a lesson. I just wanted to pass that on so other's will consider supporting this site instead of making FEEBAY richer. Thank's!

If a lot of people had missed out, then maybe I could see your point (maybe not even then, I am just bummed I missed the sarge7). But it took so long to sell out, then it reopen after that, that anyone who missed out has no one to blame but themselves.

The e-thing is crazy. Just had a DF LE sell for over 700. I might sell mine at that price!

They took days to sell out. I really don't think this person caused anyone to miss out. If they can sell them for that much, more power to them. I bet they will sit for a while. The ebay fees will start to eat away their profits after a few listings.

That was my thinking. They took days, not hours to sell out. If someone wanted it, then they had plenty of time.

But let's break it down
Selling price- $299
Ebay Fees- $26.91
Shipping (included in price)- $15
Paypal fees- $8.97
Cost of the knife originally plus shipping- aprox. $215

Profit- Hair over $33. It's not like he's making a killing.

True I guess, a $33 profit isn't even worth my time to list and ship it. I rarely sell anything of mine so I forget how much eRape there is on fleabay and paypal fee's.

The unnecessary/artificial middle man just been a pet peeve of mine for as long as I can remember. I think it reached its peak when people were selling their waiting list spot for the Lotus Elise for thousands more than the 3k they put down. Thankfully, the car was too small for my comfort anyway, so I didn't miss out on anything. Those people were doing nothing more than trying to rip off other people, plain and simple. It was legal, this is America, but the practice was pathetic.

Just to play Devils Advocate here, how is anything a ripoff if the buyer is aware of what is happening (as in the case of selling a waiting list space) or if I willingly pay $300 for a $200 knife I can't get any other way ? A another way to look at anything with a limited production is that the original selling price really has nothing greatly to do with the final value. It is like my house, cost me about 350K now "worth" over 600K should I only sell it for 300 ? If someone likes my home and wants to pay me $600K for it am I "ripping them off" ???

I don't buy to sell but two years on if something is of limited availability I would like to get back more than I paid, how much more is determined by the market.

Luckily for you, unlike every other company, there is no middle man between you and Busse/Swamp/Scrap. Take that for what its worth.

C'mon, really? There is a HUGE difference between a real estate investment and a place in line for a car. And speaking of cars, how many sell for more than what you paid several years later? Exactly, there are too many apples to oranges comparisons here. A car is not the same as a house no more than a knife is. Its expected that certain things rise in value and some do not. I do expect certain knives to rise in value, but I don't buy them for that reason.

Regardless, my initial rant was about someone buying something brand new one day and flipping it the very next for a profit. Just because people will pay it and you are taking advantage of their want of something doesn't make it right. I mean, what's next? "Hey, check this out, I sold this moron a broken washing machine, hahahaha, he should have done his research first." People pay for crack too, would you sell it to them? I mean, they are the morons, right? What about shady used car lots? Is that okay? If we are going to compare houses to knives, lets mix it all up.

This argument could go on forever, I was just pointing out something that I didn't think was cool. Nothing anyone says will change that.

I think this conversation is over with. I hope everyone had fun, I know I did. :)

Closing....
