RMD vs BATAC

The BATAC sucks. Please send all variations to me at once for disposal. ;)

For me, the handles are just about perfect. On my SE I'd say they are perfect. I have had a few old school Satin Jacks and did not care for the handle at all. And I know a lot of people who love them. It just comes down to preference. The BA-E, and Ergos in general, were once my favorite handle designs. But the TACs feel much better to me. That's just me.

This is one of the reasons I like the Busse line so much. Jerry has thrown many different variations of handles, blades, etc... at us that each of us is bound to find some that fit just right. :)

I found the handle on the BATAC to be too thin for my hands and off-loaded mine to a fellow HOG. I am anxiously awaiting my BA-SE, which I fell in love with after handling one at Blade, mostly because the handles are about as thick as MAGS (and I love that DC finish).

I have two RMD's, this is one of my new favourites, I like the narrower blade profile and the G10 handle fits in my hand perfectly. This is my new edc blade when I am working in the field. The only way to make this blade better would be to release it in INFI with a DC or satin finish.

As Tyrkon says, it is a matter personal preference. I would recemmend buying a Badger to see if you like it, if not you will have no problem selling or trading it here on the forum (with your upgraded gold membership).

Nice angle fudging ! :D

But they are closer than one would first suspect. They certainly feel a lot different, size-wise.

At any rate, get the one YOU like ! There is no wrong answer here.

.

I didn't fudge anything. Aside from the downward curve of the Fusion butt end, the handles are nearly the same size and shape. The pictures were shot from a straight, downward angle. The lines match up almost identically, the Fusion handle is just much thicker, being a Mag.

I'm not saying it's a bad knife, by any means, I just think the handles are a bit out of proportion.

I own and like both.

The RMD in a great knife. I now have 2.

The BATAC is fat. It's a knife, prybar, chopper, cleaver (last night), whatever. I put a convex edge on mine, but I may thin the edge a little next time. The utilitarian aspect makes me think of it as an upscale Dumpster Mutt; a Dumpster Doberman, if you will.
