Oooh. I hadn't thought of that. I was more worried on my mod that I wouldn't get the cut true enough to be level with the tang. But smaller is definitely a problem.

I got my 2 Ratmandu knives for $160 each. My SAR-5 cost me a nice CR knife. That being said I like my SAR5 more. The choil on the ratmandu feels like it's in the way when I'm doing more delicate cutting. The handle on the SAR5 is blocky and it tends to be handle heavy but sits firmly in your hand and says "here I am". The SAR seems to be a better all around utility knife but the Ratmandu is no slouch.
Given what a SAR5 costs I'd say keep it and buy or save up for the Ratmandu.
