RMJ Tactical Combat Africa

Their quality is what drew me to the knife. It is available at a vendor. I have two of his Hawks now and they are amazing. I have used my shrike on steel, aluminum, concrete, and more. My Busse knives are not light either which made me consider this. I still may get it when I get the funds.

It takes some stones to try to sell a knife for $400 without listing basic specs like handle length, weight with/without sheath, blade steel, handle material, blade coating composition, hardness, sharpened length... Even if it can be found listed elsewhere, why oh why would you not list them on the website you sell them from?

Times 2. Well stated.

The Ulu appears to be 4140. As for the knife, it is not a bad looking profile, but I have an little issue with the hawks having visible tool marks on the bevels, especially at those price points, so you can imagine how I feel about them on the bevels of a knife.

Protruding tangs, lack of add copy and tool marks. Again, hawks made by these guys are in the hands of deployed service members on the other side of the globe. A guy using one of these tools to open damaged equipment or for forced entry doesn't care about that. I see this knife as a successful company that puts out military grade tomahawks trying their hand at something different. I don't think the knife is intended for a lighted showcase. I do agree, that I'd prefer to see specs and stuff for a prospective purchase, but it is the seller's prerogative, and the reason I mentioned them being sold out was to illustrate that they aren't having any trouble selling them. I dig RMJ and they also give a very respectable discount to military members. They have an "A" in my book.
Best of luck on your knife purchases.

I think there is a tool mark on the edge of this axe!

Man I'm in for it, I went and looked on Ebay for a RMJ shrike and and now I placed the top bid for one. I just thought it looked cool and would knock my M48 hawks out of the water and I watched a couple youtube videos on the shrike. So if anyone wants to do me a favor and outbid me I wouldn't mind. Well it would be more practical than my Busse Ak47 guess I might sell that one otherwise.

I have had 2 of their hawks eagle talon and shrike, RMJ produces a high quality item with out a doubt. While many items fall under the tacticool banner I don't classify most RMJ items under tacticool. Although they do have a few items that make my say huh?.

I will say RMJ heat treats their hawks well, and they resist damage more than adequately.

Be excited, I will be getting another shrike in the near future! Meanwhile, Shane enjoy that baby for me!

Hey Shiny, I 've got a Shrike but the Talon has always caught my eye. Can you convince me to get one or are they too close to justify another?

I had the eagle talon before the shrike and really liked it, but the electrical insulation on the shrike and stone in the handle are big pluses.

Being they are the same head on different handles it is kind of hard to justify getting both, but if you got money to burn both are awesome.

Is your shrike 13 or 15?

The grip on the shrike is fantastic. Also, they just came out with some metal files that replace the stone in the handle, in case yours got broken, they were on their site this week.

I'll be getting a good deal if I win the bid on the Shrike, just had some concerns about authenticity being that its Ebay and all. It looks legit to my untrained eye and I am excited, I hope to cut up the hawks I bought from United cutlery with it just to see how awesome it is. I'm not spec ops or any thing like that but I hope to carry it with me on all my outdoors adventures.

looks like just what I need, for the next time I am heading to Africa for a combat mission. :)

Don't know enough about the maker/brand to comment one way or the other, but 80crv2 steel on paper at least, looks very similar to kabar's 1095 cro-van, but in a 1075 version...

1075 crovan!?

In theory, a bit less carbon would mean a bit less edge holding, but also with that makeup, a bit tougher on impact... still would take a keen edge with ease in the field too, looks like a pretty solid work steel.

The TOP SECRET BLACK OPS name makes me :barf: but the knife itself looks fine. I don't think 14 ounces is too bad for a 1/4" thick 7" long blade

Lotsa fun to talk about .of course....But....Frankly, I can't imagine the steel making ANY significantly practical difference for the average person shrug
