I wanted a simple Identification system in case I could not speak for myself - emergency of the worst degree. I found the RoadID in Backpacker magazine and thought it would be a good idea. For 20 bucks you can get lazer engraved on stainless steel any 6 lines of information. This is known as the Original. They also have an interactive version that allows you to use their database to store a BUNCH of information on their site and the medical personal simply have to call a number and enter a pin (on the back of the band). It is 20 bucks for the first year (that includes the initial band) and 10 bucks after that.

I ordered mine on line - filled out the information (very simple) and clicked order. I used the template on their site and added a quote that I like to the bottom (extra points for knowing what it is - without looking it up). I was given a 24 hour grace period to change any information I wanted to - and then it shipped. I received it priority mail packaged very well in the condition seen above. The fit was perfect and the engraving was excellent. This is a great product and I think the price point is nice.

One cool thing is that you can replace the stainless steel band at any time very easily without replacing the band (16 bucks). You can also swap colors of bands or products (they make one for your ankle, one for your shoe and some other products (a really cool stainless Dog Tag).

I have been wearing mine for the last day or so - and there isn't much to complain about. It has reflective ribbons sewed into the band and the construction seemed to be very high quality.

The site is easy to navigate and the owners are entrepreneurs that invented this out of a need for their own safety. The testimonials on the site are very cool too.

Check em out.

Great idea TF. I like the idea of it being on your wrist instead of on the ankle or shoe as you mentioned some of the other models.

K-berg,

They do not - but modifying a simple band to fit the ID would be a very simple matter the band actually just clips on to a elastic band. Sew on your own elastic and I am sure it would be great.

I'm surprized to see it wasn't rainbow coloured, TF..... Do they come in men's sizes, too?

Hugs

I did pick up a Rainbow colored one because, unlike you, I am secure in my manhood. ;)

Okay - let me be honest. I have nothing for the men's sizes comment. I will just take my lumps... you got me. :grumpy::D

Smooches,

TF

I have something like that (but smaller) that sticks to the side of my motorcycle helmet.

Pretty cool particularly for those of us who may go out on solo hikes etc. The dog tag model is interesting because it would be conveninet to have it wth you at all times.

I got this for Xmas, you plug it into a USB port on a windows compatible computer and load your personnal data. If you're hurt and cant speak for yourself, EMS can check who to contact on your behalf and access your vital medical information.

It's the same size as a military dogtag only a little thicker.
