technically, real ranger bands are made of "epdm" rubber (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EPDM_rubber) - it's more resistant to rot, sunlight damage, drying out, etc. than regular bicycle inner tube. if a website is selling ranger bands but they're really just cut up bike tubes then they're cheating their customers!

that sculpture is made out of truck inner tubes. if you look at the bottom of the pic, you'll see people's heads to give you the scale.
