I was just there a few months ago. I have family in Manhattan (The Stuyvescant buildings) and have visited too many times too count. Doesn't matter how many times I've been though, I get jealous when I see other people visiting! Thanks for the pics! (Ya jerk :D)
 
Very interesting pics! Me being on the other side of the world of course! I only get to see it on CSI NY.

Question: if those are "inner tubes" then what are ranger bands?
 
He didn't say they were bike inner tubes.... Those are probably people sized ranger bands, the kind that people squeeze themselves into and float down rivers in...

technically, real ranger bands are made of "epdm" rubber (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EPDM_rubber) - it's more resistant to rot, sunlight damage, drying out, etc. than regular bicycle inner tube. if a website is selling ranger bands but they're really just cut up bike tubes then they're cheating their customers!

that sculpture is made out of truck inner tubes. if you look at the bottom of the pic, you'll see people's heads to give you the scale.
