Heading on a two-day road trip down to Greenville SC from Boston. Taking I-95 down to Virginia, then I-85 from Virginia, through NC, and onto Greenville SC. I noticed Knife Center is right off 95 in Virginia, and another nearby shop called The Classic Edge. Any other shops to recommend along the way that aren’t too far off the highway? Will be returning on the same route.

If you go don't need to take the route you said, heading down the 81 gets you to SMKW (near Knoxville) with just a bit of a detour before Greenville.

There's a Victorinox store in Manchester (a town near Hartford) in CT. I don't think it's very big.

The SAK store is in Monroe, and its TINY. Most people buy refills there as 99% of their knives are at MSRP.

See if you're going the OTHER way I'd recommend casco bay cutlery in Freeport. LL Bean also has alot of knives. ..maybe next year :)

If you can stop by Smokey, I'd definitely stop.

Knife Center is in Fredericksburg, VA near me, right off Rt1, but they are not like Smokey Mountain Knife Works where they have big displays, although they do have a small display in the front lobby that is neat to look at, they are more of a warehouse for orders. I may be wrong since the last time I was over there, so give them a call. There is also a Gander Outdoors in Fredericksburg off Rt 3. Of course there is Bass Pro Shop in Ashland about 1/2 hour south of Fredericksburg off I95 south. I am sure there are others, or Cabelas, along your route. something more local is Greentop, more of a hunters store like Gander Outdoors, but they had a few knives. That is all I can think of in my neck of the woods in VA around I95. Hope it helps.

ps. In PA there is a knife store in Intercourse, Country Knives, kind of high prices but a very big selection. And do not forgot about GEC in Tidiote, PA, not sure if they have a showroom.

I was also going to point this out. Knifecenter is more of a distribution center than a knife shop. They had one display case with Case knives in it when I was there two years ago. Wasn’t worth the trip. :(

Thanks everyone! Anyone ever go to the Nation's Gun Show at the Dulles Expo Center in Virginia? I'll be passing by there Friday and was wondering if there are enough knife vendors there to make it worth a visit.

That is an awesome show. LT used to do it along with other custom makers. Lots of knife dealers as well. Showmasters are good people and the show in Chantilly is one you don't want to miss.
