Lets here it for Les! One of the pre-eminent voices in the business of custom knives.

Personality and humor, (forget looks) , ..2 out of three aint bad.

Please roast your favorite knife demigogue,..

Mr. Robertson: Hometown hero, celebrity, knife-advisor, snake oil salesman, psychologist, therapist, analyst, business genius, all around smart guy. (as if anyone didnt know it!) You will remind them if they forget, i hope.

PS. This thread is about custom knives, in case anyone thinks it's not.

Saluting a hero. (Who has enjoyed a good fight once and a while. )

Les "Scruffy" Robertson?
David

Never having met Les, I have looked for a pic...and failed at every turn. Can anyone help so if I ever run into him, at least I'll know him from someone else??? :D

Hi Chris,

If you get the current Issue of Blade check out the article on George Herron.

There is a picture of George and I standing next to each other with his $20,000 knife! :D

Hi David,

Yes the one with Brass...the First Bowie George Herron ever made.

Stainless steel wasn't being used all that much guards in 1966. :D

my smart ass comments are best left unsaid.
I'm sorry if I offended you at all, Les.

I will definitely take a look, Les. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Lotta people don't like Les for different reasons, some valid, some BS...

Les MADE a lot of knifemakers that couldn't do it themselves for whatever reasons.

Made them money, gave them self-respect and an income to raise a family on...sure he made some money too, but I have seen guys in this business that come from dealing used cars, and might as well have been selling cocaine or crystal meth, the way they lay it on so thick.

He loves knives, and he loves this community, even though it don't always love him back.

Les doesn't need a roast, but from me he gets a virtual pat on a the back, cold beer, and "job well done".

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

It is time we met, Les.

I have heard so much about you, read so many responses to things
you write here on the BF, it is really high time that we met.

Will you be at the coming AKI?

Will you be at the 2010 BLADE Show? I'll be there at Tim Hancock's table
introducing "The World of Art Knives". come over and see us and the book.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

I'm with Steven on this. I don't always agree with his opinions but there is really no need for this.

For the record, I am not sure what the OP's intentions are here in this thread, but I have nothing but goodwill towards Les. I have never done a deal with him, but I have inquired on numerous occasions and he has always been extremely prompt, polite, and patient, without exception. That's not BS. In my book, Les is definitely GTG.

Just for the record, this is meant purely in fun. I have the highest regard for Les. (He does have a sense of humor. )

I have not met Les personally but have exchanged opinions and emails with him on a few occasions. I disagree with a lot of what he has said at times, but I can't disagree with STeven's post. I think Les has been a POSITIVE influence in the KNIFE World when all is said and done.

I did see Les pictured in the Blade article about George Herron. Great article and gave me more appreciation for the Herron collection I saw this year at Blade.

this pretty much sums up how I perceived this thread. If there is anyone on this forum who can take a good ribbing better than Les, than I don't know who that might be.
For the record, Les Robertson- to my eyes- is a giant in the field of custom knives, who also has the best online custom knife store and business I've seen.

Go Les!

Well i first met Les in little rock last year and was very disappointed i mean excited.:foot: Les looked at one of my knives put it back in the case and said nice meeting you and walked away! WELL at this time iam thinking he is a little antisocial to say the least.:jerkit: Then i get an email from him begging me to do him some knives i say Les im pretty busy but ill try to work you in :o he says that will be just fine.
Seriously i did met Les in Little Rock he looked at my knives and i stayed in touch with him. Les has always answered my questions and been very helpful.
I dont know Les as well as alot of you but he has been fair with me. Very good business man and has put alot of makers on the map.Love him or hate him he has done alot for makers and the knife world in whole!:yawn:LOL

I like Les. I don't always agree with him, but he's both a pillar of the custom knife community, and willing to share plenty of good info and analysis. He's been a great help to many, including me.
