You older makers will remember something back in the day called customer service. It is from a bygone era. Bob Scrimsher was the first knife materials suppler. He knew the materials, how they could be worked and had a heart of gold. They just don't make them like Bob any more. In todays world of big box stores, with sales people that know nothing about the product they sell it is a real pleasure to deal with Rob Fink. His Company makes the well known and thought of KMG Grinders for Knife Makers.

I needed a 2 hp. Vari controlled motor for my Bader-I. Rob doesn't sell this grinder. Inf fact is is a direct competitor for his product. Still he was courteous and product knowledgeable. I ordered the vari package from and in just a matter of days it arrived. To say that I am electronically uneducated would be an under statement. The motor manufacturer was no help what so ever. Nor was the Maker of the control. In fact the maker of the control was down right rude. I gave Rob a call, and his service after the sale was even grater than before. That is unusually in todays world.

If anyone has a need for a great, hell bent for tough grinder, or the hardware to make your set up what you need, Rob Fink is the Guy!!! A bit of the old days!! I Love-it!!! Thanks Rob!!! Mike Lovett

Ditto, on Rob Fink and KMG, in another thread I was wondering about how to do the bearings to convert a drive contact wheel into a driven wheel to mount on a KMG. Rob posted pictures and told how he does it the wheels for KMGs. You don't get any bigger than that. If you need a great grinder, you need a KMG! The machine and the company are the total package>

Rob is a top-notch guy no doubt. When I was building my KMG clone, he happily went and took some measurements for me on one of his machines to help make sure I got it right.

That said, his name if Frink, not Fink.... ;)

I agree. My next grinder will be a KMG. I have used other makers KMG's and found them to be excellent machines. I ground my MS quilloin dagger on one. (which sold for twice as much money as his grinder BTW) Thats value.

Rob is good people. :D:D:D:D:D
Many of the new guys probably don't know he designed his machine right here on this forum with Knifemaker input.

Thanks for the wonderful plug Mike,

...guess I've been outted...I'm an Old Guy!! (hee hee)

So it sounds like you have your Bader up and running with the new 2 hp Variable speed conversion...? I really like these motors and controllers and I'm anxious to hear what you think once you've got a few hours of grinding under your belt. It should be quiet, smooth, and powerful!!

Dang!! it's hot in the shop today...and you guys aren't helping to slow down the orders any.

Sincere thanks to all!!

-Rob

I wouldn't be where I am today without the KMG. It's an awesome machine that just doesn't quit. I plan on getting another in a few months. Thanks Rob for a great product and taking care of the customer the way you do.
