Yes it is! I hope that's alright. Thanks!

thanks for posting that message on my profile page, I was starting to think I was mistaken I'm glad to know I wasn't.
This idea you had of making people do some real work if they want to win one of your knives is pretty cool, and it took me about half an hour to find the pic of that peanut.
It's got some real nice looking bone BTW.
Thanks for changing your knife choice to an eligible one, H&S. And I agree with you on the bone; 4 of my favorite knives are from the Case chestnut jigged bone CV series, and three of them were gifts, but you (and t. willy) found the one I neglected to "protect" with my GAW rules! ;)

Thanks also to Mossyhorn and traumkommode for doing some additional research to find eligible knife choices.:thumbsup:

This is the one I'd like if I'm lucky enough to be chosen. This is a very cool GAW Thank you for the opportunity. :DView attachment 732614
Looks like this before work for people t

In the thread you posted it in you said you weren't a big fan of carrying small knives so I figured you might not miss it to much if you had to give it away :D

Congratulations on the milestone, GT! Your enthusiasm and careful attention to the Porch inhabitants is, and has been from my very first day here, a real pleasure to experience. The Porch is certainly a better place with your positive contributions.

With that said I'd like to enter your fun giveaway, if I may. Though my time here has been brief, relatively speaking, I've come to enjoy the giveaways that have a fun or unique twist to them and yours is certainly no exception.

So, armed with your designated criteria, I set out to find a knife of yours that might catch my fancy. Though it took a little digging, I did manage to find one that you posted last year that caught my eye. A Rough Rider Scout in Red Jigged Bone. The Scout pattern is one I have become more interested in as of late and I even scooped up a nice vintage one recently. However, it requires some elbow grease to get it back in usable order and that requires some committed time, which generally is in short supply for me. So I wouldn't say no to a nice functional Scout in the meantime. That and I've become rather partial to Red Bone in its various forms...

Thank you for all that you do here and for hosting a wonderfully fun giveaway.

Thanks for doing this, GT! It's a great idea - it's been a lot of fun to go back and see posts I had seen (and many, many more I had missed along the way). Plus, as an added bonus, I'm now MUCH better acquainted with the new system's search feature.

I'm in, if the Colt G10/carbon steel canoe is eligible. I'm smitten with the juxtaposition of modern materials and traditional patterns - two of my own favorites are a black Alox Pioneer and a denim micarta Northwoods Hawthorne jack - so this fits in nicely, if I'm so lucky. (If no, I may just have to find one myself...)

Thanks again for making the Porch such a fun place to be. Even if I'm not the most vocal or have the widest collection around, the knowledge and viewpoints of everybody is a treat to learn.

Not an entry, since I've already been at the receiving end of your generosity recently with the Zombe Nick canoe and Sleeveboard Sunfish/elephant toenail.
Congrats on the milestone. You make this place worth visiting. Your ... fondness ... of the canoe pattern and of Rough Rider makes me feel not alone. :)

NOT AN ENTRY . congratulations on the 3 years and glad to see your still going strong . And what a fantastic Idea for a giveaway . Tho make sure that wight&sons stays locked away ;):)

R.c.s., thanks for the anniversary congrats.
Rest assured that I have that stag senator doubly protected, by my rules declaring both stag knives and GAW gifts off limits as entrants' knife choices for the GAW! ;)

IMG_6372.JPG As I have gotten more comfortable on the forum
I have enjoyed your summary posts. Sometimes you notice things I didn't see when I breezed through the pics in the "What are you totin today' thread. I don't think I have ever entered one of these contests. It sounds fun. So here goes. If I was to win, I would love to try one of the Rough Rider Canoes. The tortoise shell version is the one I'd pick.

Not an entry, but a great GAW! Thanks for all that you contribute to this great forum, and congrats on your milestone!

afishhunter and The Fort, thanks for stopping in even though you decided not to enter.:thumbsup: If you change your mind in the next 5 days, just edit in a knife photo. ;)

Since my upcoming BF anniversary motivated this thread, I'm a little more likely to pay attention to "join dates" lately. I noticed that Captvideo joined BF just a mere day before I did, and coffee mike joined exactly one year after I did, so congrats to each of you on your upcoming membership milestones!! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup: (I also noticed that supratentorial joined BF on my 55th birthday; how's that for meaningful trivia??)

Weekend bump back to Page 1.
Let's talk odds. :)
I think there are currently 14 entries. If some of those entrants are following the thread, you may want to strategize about recruiting friends to enter the GAW to improve the odds. Currently, the entrants each have a 1/14 chance to win their chosen knife. If 6 more people enter before Thursday evening, the chance of winning increases to 1/10 because of the rule about 2 winners for 20 entrants. Of course, every entrant before 20 lowers the chance of winning, and if more than 20 folks enter, the chances of winning start dropping again - 2 prizes for 28 entrants is the same 1/14 chance of winning that currently exists. Food for thought, eh?? :D

So would it be illegal, unethical and / or just downright sneaky to set up 6 phantom accounts...?:D

"My brain hurts."
:D That's a Flying Circus reference that deserves more widespread use!!

So would it be illegal, unethical and / or just downright sneaky to set up 6 phantom accounts...?:D
Tom, I don't want to judge you, but the behavior you propose would be in the spirit of "robbing me blind"! ;) Just remember that you'd have to coordinate your phantom account set up with everyone else to assure that your nefarious plan doesn't shoot right past the target entry number and make the odds worse!

I'd like the Flexcut Whittlin' Jack from the Cavalcade of Carvers thread - May 26, 2016. Looks like a good work or play knife. Thanks for the opportunity and your generosity.

Bump to the front page in case anyone else wants to play.

One thing I've learned about myself as this GAW has developed: I'm far too attached to ALL of my knives!:confused:
Even after carefully declaring some of my favorite knives to be off-limits for this GAW, I found myself reacting with a surprising amount of dismay as each new entry was posted! For example, I might think something like, "Oh, no, not the Richards pipe knife with the cool little lamp post tang stamp!", even though I haven't smoked a pipe in decades. Or, "Not the carbon steel Colt canoe; it's so elegant and they don't make Colt knives anymore." Or, "Not the improved muskrat; I've only had that for a month." You get the idea - in my heart of hearts, I don't relish the thought of giving up ANY of them!

I hope it will be a character-building experience and a journey on the road to self-improvement!:rolleyes:

Rest assured that whoever wins will definitely appreciate said knife and likely post pictures of it often.

If I was to win that peanut I'd sure use the heck out of it, and there'd be no shortage of pictures ;);)
