Robbin Hudson Viking dagger

Thanks guys for the compliments on Robbin Hudson's skills.

He's done some awesome knives to be sure, but that puppy may just be the top dog. What an impressive piece!

Close, but not. There were two pieces that Mike T. owned that represent the best, IMHO that Robbin Hudson ever made.
Their basic qualities are breathtaking....the biggie is that he damascus was FAR more involved. Both had flamed edges.
Best Regards,
STeven Garsson

I have to agree with STeven on this one. The daggers I was referring to in my original post are the same STeven is talking about........but this one comes a close second (or third).

Absolutely wonderful dagger Marcel as was the Rodrigo Sfreedo one. I'm sure you will be looking to replace that one soon from RS.

If things go as planned it will be my turn again somewhere in 2008:thumbup:

Great piece, thanks for sharing.I also heard that Rob used nailpolish to resist the acid etch, wonderful effect.

The knife that i saw in Orlando all those years ago was much simpler. it did not have the "dragon claw" guard, the lobed pommel or the fuller. It stood almost entirely on the beauty and compexity of the damascus pattern and fit and finish and to be quite honest, if i had to pick one of the two, I wold pick the simpler one. But i would take either or both if offered:D

That is an awesome knife. The flame edge is amazing,I remember another knifemaker who used a similar flame edge,"Michael Veit".He made turkish twist damascus that looked close to the best,"Rados".Does anyone know what happened to Veit?

All the Veit pieces I've seen were in the "Knives - Point of Interest" books. I don't recall seeing a flame edge but that doesn't mean anything. His designs were gorgeous...

I bought this one from a dealer at the NYC show a couple of years ago. Besides it being a really characteristic knife from Daniel Winkler, it had the guardless shape that I love and it also sported that flame edge.
