just got this from the PO today. I had seen a thread about Robert's work in BF and looked at some of his other knives and obtained the prototype with wooden (desert ironwood) handle for his new knife Black Velvet.

I don't recall the steel and have written him for the info. I'm sure he will let me know and may even see this thread and respond here.

this knife is a bit tricky to get the light for as the light tends to get reflected from a lot of angles.

and one more angle of the whole knife

while this knife is a bit heavier than my other fighters, due partly to the 1/4" stock, I believe the idea behind it -- create a knife that is going to be used as an all around fighting/camp tool has been accomplished. This piece will "whack things down" and "cut things up" and this particular model will fit perfectly with many other fighters I display and that have been show in the fighter thread of some time back.

For the photographers, all but the last image of the handle are straight from camera to this thread except for resizing by me and again by Fotango. The handle had one adjustment in brightness/contrast so it is a bit more than from camera.

Very nice addition to your collection Murray.. The photos capture how "beefy" this knife is. The ironwood handle was an excellent choice..As usual, very nice photo's as well.. Murray, did it come in a new case? (inside joke..)..Rich Slaughter..Santa Cruz, Ca..

Very nice indeed. Robert's knives are getting better and better. This one is made in a style I particularly like. The fit and finish looks to be excellent.

That's a stout-looking blade allright, and overall fit and finish looks to be very good. I'm looking forward to playing with that one a bit in person. A few of Robert's knives have caught my eye in the recent past. Congrats.

I have a similiar piece, but the blade is more bayonet style.
Robert is doing some good things and has come a long ways.
Makes a good knife and is still reasonable.
