does anybody have guidance for a rookie (1 at a time) collector of "new york" knives who has found a "collection" of 90 + robesons being sold by the deceased owners family. every knife dealer ad that i see says "just acquired" a collection. how do they appraise or come to an "offer" price..can somebody out there hep me ??

I have spoken to "professor levine"..he has been most helpful several times to me, and always very charitable with his far reaching expertise..he did say, for my and others benefit, to examine ea. and every knife in the collection before offering a price..in other words, do not over-view the inventory and offer a blind-generalized price..you are gentleman for your reply and suggestion..thanks,willie lean?
