Rock Lobster?

Oh man, I want one of these so bad I can TASTE IT! By the way, anyone hear any news about when it will be available?

What I really want is a Salt Lobster. Yellow FRN, SE, larger spyder hole. Hell yeah.

That knife looks really big when you actually see it in someone's hands (unless, of course, he had exceptionally small hands.) Big and awesome.

When will it be out, TazKristi how about chiming in and let us know when the Rock Lobster will be at dealers.

I've been waiting on this item for months.... the other knives which were advertised at the same time, I believe, have all been released, but not the Rock Lobster. The other knife I wanted from that batch, the Super Hawk, has long since been released, and I have it. But I really like the Rock Lobster!

When's it coming?

Collaboration models often take considerably longer than in-house designs to make it to production. Probably because both the designer and Spyderco have to be satisfied with the pre-production prototype. I'd imagine that can be even more of a factor when it's the first production version of any design by that maker.

As for the "when". Sal has said that Spyderco's new policy is not to announce release date until the first batch is in Golden and ready to ship to dealers. Too many variables in the supply chain, which led to too many cases where "estimates" had to be revised and folks got their noses out of joint.

Ya never know how these things play out, but for me, the Rock Lobster is probably going to be one of those iconic Spydercos,
like the Cricket or the Military or Chinook. I'm not impatient, it's like the sunrise, it happens in its own appointed time. :)

The Rock Lobster looks to be a large hard use folder. I have to say the VG-10 on this model is a turn off though, and it looks like a standard spyderhole as opposed to the oversized hole, but I could be wrong.

The Military still owns the "big daddy" title in my opinion.

I do like the reversible clip though.

I particularly like Jen's fixed blades. They are wonderfully unique, and also surprisingly functional. It's a shame that Jen's doesn't do more fixed blades any more.

A fact that few people know is that Jens happens to be an extraordinarily good sheath maker. His Kydex work is top notch, and his specialty leather sheaths are the best I've ever owned. They are a work of art in themselves. If I get the chance, I'll try to snap a pic of my Anso lizard skin covered leather sheath tomorrow. It is truly extraordinary.

I'd die to see Spyderco work with Jens on producing the Anso Personal Sheepsfoot. It is a very legal sized knife, unbelievably sheeple friendly, and functional as all get-up.
