Rock Video – Making of The “Battle Cry” Recurve Bow

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c052Th0feyM

Hey guys & gals,
Did a rock video showing the making of our “Battle Cry” Recurve Bow. It shows the process of making this bow from beginning, to finishing, stringing, & shooting. It’s hard to fit everything into a song, so you may want to check out my other “how to” vids if you want to know more about each phase. Hope it’s entertaining and I hope I’m getting better at this videoing thing! :D

Cool bow! I'm not sure what it should be for a bow of that style...but isn't the brace height way low? I'm more familiar with recurves and more modern longbows, but the string seems way long.

Sweet bow, though! It reminds me of a (probably 1940's era) English-made longbow I found at an antique store once! I gave it to my dad for father's day and he even gave it a few shots before putting it on display. We're both instructors, so we know our ways around a bow, but we couldn't tell if the wood was still safe to shoot after aging so much. Those "primitive" bows sure pack a punch!

I thought it was a cool video. I haven't shot a bow in years, but used to love it. Might need to dust off the ol' compound and get back into it. My dream would be to get good a shooting a longbow-saw a guy on tv once with one and it was incredible.

Brace Height: Yes, good eye. Don't sit so close to the screen :D I did not string the bow very tight at all because I had just finished it and was getting ready to ship it off to the customer and didn't want to scuff the finish with the string, so I left it a little loose. Just wanted to take a shot or two for the video.

As far as that old bow you gave your father. Your right, I wouldn't pull back too much on it. POW!

Thanks for watching.

cool video. i didnt listen to the music though. also, did you make the quiver? if you did, nice work!

Sorry, I forgot to answer this,
No sir, the quiver is a discontinued item. The man that made them for me moved and I no longer offer them. But if someone had to have one, I could make one. I stay pretty busy with the bows and knives.

Thanks for good words. Chris
