Rocket Flippers

I've got an older ZT 0200 that I have to hold back, the blade literally flys out! Reate Horizon C, Brous Reloader, Microtech DOC.

My unassisted 450 is as fast or faster than my assisted 566 it's scary how fast it is

If you ever want a non assisted knife that is very snappy. Check out some of Sharpbydesigns (Brian Nadeau) knives. They are pretty awesome.

If we get to talk autos, then I can vouch for the ProTech Rockeye, a Les George design. It'll make the fat on your arm vibrate!

For me, the best flipper(s) I own are both Shirogorov 95s. One is the T model in M390, and the other is a model with carbon fiber inlays in S90V. Both are production grails for me, and for good reason, trust me.
They do take some time to break in, but once they have smoothed out along the interface of the bearings and the blade, all you have to do is spray them out with WD40 and dry with air to clean the bearings as much as possible, and then just apply a little bit of nano-oil to it, and you will have one of the fastest and smoothest flippers you can ever get.
I have handled a couple RJ Martin Q-36s, and while they are a little snappier due to harder detents, my Shirogorovs are way smoother and feel better to flip.

André Thorburn...

...and any of these for sure ;)
Can't get smoother than a Thorburn when it comes to flippers, seriously. And they are wickedly fast when the detents are hard enough.

If Autos are a consideration, then I would also add the Diskin Fire Dual-Action, though you will likely have trouble finding one right now since they have been discontinued. They weren't very easy to get when they were still being made, and honestly I am very proud to own one myself considering how few I have ever seen for sale.
Still, as far as autos are concerned, it is by far the fastest and snappiest one I have ever handled, while still being a very classy, very good knife. And you can open it un-assisted as well when needed, which is always a plus ;)

Yes sir!

Zt0562cf or 0562 g10
Zt0900
If you like autos the kershaw launch series in cpm 154.

I have all 3 and love them!

0562 hands down.

I have to say though, with good technique one can launch most knives out like a whip. Practice makes perfect and practice opening knives is therapy.

I tried the 452cf this weekend, it fired very quickly for its size and was light.

Everyone should practice the draw...

first off..... THIS---^^ (I may even SIG line that) secondly I'd have to say that the spyderco domino I had was a great flipper, I'll second the ZT 0562 I had as well as all the brous blades I've handled (silent soldiers, reloader, T4, Mini division). Even the CRKT Nirk tighe I had was pretty great...First ~$100ish knife I ever bought. Have a FFKW pretium coming in this afternoon and am pretty excited to check out the action on it.

Pretty much all the recent ZT's are rockets. They have a strong detent that, once overcome, sends the blade rocketing out. I've heard that even the newer 0562CF's are tuned for a strong detent (my earlier run Elmax one has a firm detent, but not quite as strong as the more recent offerings).
Man, I've had the opposite experience. My 0560 and 0561 both had stronger detents than my recent 0562. It still flies out though.
My 0392 flies out consistently. Having handled a BM 300, I really liked the knife but was completely underwhelmed by the flipping action. The axis lock simply doesn't need it IMO. I also have a ZT 0560, and as much as I love that knife it's a poor example of a "rocket" flipper.
I agree. I just sharpened a 300 for a friend and it took some fanangling to get it to flip consistently.
1. CRKT Ripple
2. Shirogorov F95
2. ZT 0392
3. Boker Kwaiken
4. Spyderco Southard
5. ZT 0560
The Ripples I've seen (only 2) have had just insane detents. Too much, imo, but they certainly flip well.

Probably the most forceful opening knife I've ever handled was when I was accidentally sent an assisted HTM Gunhammer. It opened with so much for that it bent the blade stops pretty quickly.

Anecdotes aside, any newer ZT should have a really strong detent, as well as stuff from the higher end Chinese companies (Reate, Stedemon). A Kerahaw Strobe I bought for a friend actually has the strongest detent I've experienced on a flipper. It's almost comical what the action feels like on it, but being a low end knife I doubt there's any kind of consistency to them.

The Reate and Kizers I've tested have flipped really well.
