Well, All I can really say is every time I use the forge on waste oil, it gets better and better.

Hit temps over 2300°F today. I think the really calm day had a little to do with it as even a slight breeze that you can't even feel plays badly with the flame.

Here are a couple of pics of how the burner is made, well maybe just one pic, the other one wasn't worth posting.

It is a standard Ron Riel Burner with the addition of an oil tube connected to an oil tank.

I had tried at first to put the hole for the oil tube in front of the bell reducer and run the oil tube inside the burner tube but this didn't work because it wasn't preheating the oil enough. That is the reason for winding the oil tube around the burner tube a couple of times; the residual/radiant heat around the tube heats the oil just enough to cause atomization for efficient burning.

Here's a video of the forge working today.

Is that a castable refractory? if so every time you run it untill it is completely dry it will get a little hotter.

Pretty good swirl you've got going there! Looks like a pretty darn decent setup!

Thanks.

it does work pretty well; the forge tube wasn't positioned exactly at the tangent so it isn't ideal but with a bit of extra tweaking of the burner position it seems to work pretty well.

Yes, for about 5 minutes, very low pressure just enough to start using oil, after that time I open up the oil, gradually increasing oil and air over about 45 minutes and most of the forge warm up fuel is oil. It takes about 45 minutes to get up to full 2000° + temps and sustain the oil burn without propane. It uses very little propane now, Sunday when I started it, I shook the propane bottle and couldn't hear any liquid but it was still enough to get it going so I maybe used a pound for Saturday and Sunday which was about 13 hours running the forge.
