Rockstead Higo X Knife?

The YXR7/DLC in the Higo X seems to be in the majority; that is the kind of information I was looking for. Thank you all very much.

You Rockstead owners, where did you buy from? What is your best advise?

Is the dlc the mirrored surface? Or is the flat dlc? Maybe a stupid question but I honestly don't know.

Damn, Tyler that reflection and picture is beautiful. I showed it to my wife and she liked it very much.

Thanks Chris!

The mirror finish also has a DLC coating, it's like a "tinted mirror". It's something that must be witnessed in person.

When a DLC coating is applied, the finish of the base material will also show in the coating. In other words, if you mirror polish a blade and send it in for a DLC coating, the mirror will have a tinted appearance, but still hold it's beautiful luster.

I think we need more photo ,this is ZDP

Misanthropia, thank you, exactly the kind of information I'm looking for. If I get one it would be a cardboard knife, so your steer to YXR7 is great.

Thanks all.
If you want a cardboard knife, keep in mind the Spyderco Military in Maxamet. They haven't announced a date yet, but Sal did say that it was definitely coming.

Personally, I am holding out hope for a 3rd or 4th quarter release.

That being said, if I had the disposable income, I would have a Maxamet Military and an YXR7 just to compare the edge retention back to back.

If you don't want to wait you can always go with the Endura in ZDP-189.

I think folks forget about them. They've been around forever now it seems, but are still damn near the top of the heap for cutting performance.

ZDP-189 is perhaps the best knife steel available. Hatachi, in Japan, has invested a great deal in that outcome. I am an unremorseful owner of a Rockstead SHU and the KEI. Both are ZDP-189. There is nothing I've encountered that comes close to the Rockstead performance in my 45 years of handling knives. I am also very pleased with Spyderco's ZDP-189 selections. I own both the Manbug, and the Caly 3.5 (clad). I recently purchased 2 Dragonfly models in ZDP-189. Jump on the ZDP-189 bandwagon if you are seeking the ultimate folding knife cutting performance. If you have a question on Rockstead, please let me know. I'm enthralled with the two I have been cutting with.

I had the Higo and was not impressed at all with the edge retention. Beside that, it was one of the most beautifully done knives I have ever seen.
