ROCKSTEAD SHIN Manila rope TAMESHIGIRI

Long test. Impressive edge retention.

I seem to remember these knives cost in excess of $1000 each. Is that correc?

Cool, the blade profile looks like a giant version of Busse's old asymetrical edge. Or at least I think they're saying that's the actual "blade profile" and not just the edge profile.

Hm...
SHIN in ATS34+ZDP189+ATS34 price is about 950-1000USD
But " this one coast this money "
I do not use to say this often. That's for sure.
They (Rockstead ) making only 50-60 SHIN's in 5-6month .

I'd like to have one of Kou folders, but I think that are a little bit expensive. For instance, Boker Leo III is around 700 $ and in a very fine folder ( I chose this ex because it has a hadmade damascus blade with 65-67HRC, and I have one )

i saw this guy in the nyc show, the knives range from 1200$ to 2500$, the show was great , he beat the bamboo and cut it, them he cut some rope to have a piece of paper being cut with the same blade that was sharp as good as when he stared, he did it all day long and kept the edge, it was truly impressive.

It would appear that the old adage "You get what you pay for" is true in this case....very impressive.

I've been wanting to talk to someone about the Boker leo folders. I read the steel is old tank turret/barrel steel and the HRC is super super high. What is your impression/opinion/review regarding this not-so-many-owned knife?

By the way, what's the HRC of the laminated blade being used in the tests? Another super blade I've been wanting to hear/read about is the Kiku Matsuda blades which is made from a new steel called something like OU-31 or something which is apparently a super x 2 steel.

OU-31 shows average results on my tests, while ZDP189 on the top.

Thanks, Vassili.

The price is definitely prohibitive but the Rockstead Nehan W is one great looking knife.

frankly speaking my leo III is a keeper... cut some paper and that's all. for use I have a boker turbine, X-15 T.N blade.

I played with it and a few other Rocksteads on a knife show, with indeed their CEO (if I'm correct) demoing their products. It's actually a very small shop.
Overpriced? Probably, but the attention to detail and quality feel is amazing. Think of these products rather as high-end customs, made in a small production run.
