Too bad the handles werent titanium,i know the knife is all about the blade, but for that kind of money id like to see titanium thats anodized; something fancier than black aluminum...

It is not aluminum it is duraluminum which is hardened aluminum (contains copper, manganese, magnesium and of course around 93% aluminum)used in aircraft and defence industries in armoured vehicles.

Rocksteads remind me of kitchen prep knives. Very sharp but aesthetically not appealing. At least not to me.

Yes, any real world tool needs to have at least some play in it or the smallest dust particles and grit will screw it up. That doesn't mean that Rockstead or CRK or whoever doesn't make things more precise than other companies, which could very well be possible. I just don't really believe the numbers they gave. It's like a sniper rifle vs a rugged assault rifle. The AK47 does very well in nasty environments because of the loose specs, the sniper rifle not so much. If I remember right, the M4 was being built too tight for normal military use and they had to purposely relax the tolerances to keep them from jamming up. I believe the same thing applies to knives to a lesser degree. When I get rich we'll get together and do some destructive tests on em all!

I know for a fact that the sebenza has had occurrences where pocket lint stopped it from locking properly.

I was not aesthetically pleased either when i saw them for the first time but the build ,fit and finish ,tolerances and performance of their blades turned me over to a fan.

The extremely 0.0000001 tolerance is just pointless to me. We talking about a folding knife not a submarine right?

I also agreed with above opinion that I would rather have a titanium frame lock instead of aluminium frame with steel liner for any >$1000 folder. The only thing that Rockstead really attached me is their polished DLC YXR7 blade.

Rumour has it that Rockstead is planning to use HAP72 steel: http://www.zknives.com/knives/steels/hap72.shtml

From their own website:

"HAP72(Steel material of phantom) We are researching a steel material that is stronger than YXR7. And, the hardness of this steel is HRc70. The prototype was completed. However and the price are considerably high so we postpone the selling. The steel better than this is not, and will be able to be called a steel material that collects the chic of the nanotech technology in the cutting steel of high hardness and high toughness now."

From my understanding, it isn't the standard aluminum but a stronger high end (aircraft?) version. Also, they inlay it with pretty epic stuff like Stingray.
