Wow. It chopped wood...Sorry but I have a 15$ Winchester Bowie that chops wood just as effectively.Didn't do too shabby here :
But can it prep a P&J survival ration ?Wow. It chopped wood...Sorry but I have a 15$ Winchester Bowie that chops wood just as effectively.
Nope. The blade fell apart in my chunky peanut butter. What was left of it dissolved in my strawberry jelly. Life...am I right? But can it prep a P&J survival ration ?:
Thanks, I hate it.8hrc. Very slightly harder than I'd be after seeing Donatella Versace eat heaping spoonfuls of mayonnaise.

The Mtech Raptor is an Awesome Bowie. I have it and it's indestructible which is why I am wondering what the hardness is. It's by far the best MTech product there is. I want to know if it has been heat treated because if it isn't, I want to get it heat treated here locally and raise the hardness by 60. It's not a cheap knife, it's a good knife. people don't like it because it's heavy, but it's not that much different in weight from the Ontario SP10. I have many knives and I know quality when I use it!
You can’t just re-heat treat a knife. You’ll mess it up to put it mildly. It would be funny to see you take it somewhere and see what they say though. Take video if possible.
If it’s working for you, don’t mess with it.
Also there are NO bad reviews on the Raptor ANYWHERE on the web, and can give the more expensive knives a run for their money. I have seen Kabars fail, Ontarios, Buck, but NEVER this model of knife!! It's indestructible. people can laugh at an MTech and I love placing bets on who's knife is going to fail, but everybody shuts up when I pull this bad boy out. I love it and I want to give my Bowie the royal treatment.
Alot of times the outcome is not good and sometimes the blades end up warping. It's best to heat treat once only. It can work though. I think it would be a gamble though.I have never had it done before but I am pretty sure you can heat treat a blade again and actually make it perform more to your liking.
It will probably cost more than the knife though.
Or you heat treat THREE times as the third one warps it back the other way, and boom, straight ultra heat treated blade. Save your applause for later...Alot of times the outcome is not good and sometimes the blades end up warping. It's best to heat treat once only. It can work though. I think it would be a gamble though.
