Hi
I recently sourced a benchtop hardness tester in Alberta Canada (not easy). I figured I would post some info to make it easier for anyone else. I looked into alot of ebay ads. Some seem like a good deal but none panned out. The ads from the US wont ship to Canada despite providing a quote for intl shipping. They just cancelled my order a few days after it was placed. There are some from india but they only ship to the nearest seaport. Tha ads are for about 1200 but after talking to them the actual cost is about 2500 plus customs. All local places ranged from 3000 to 10000. Rob from knifemaker.ca recommended kbc tools. That is what i ended up doing. The total cost shipped to Edmonton Alberta was about 1700 Cad. Im pretty sure they also have US stores that would be even cheaper if thats where you live. They guy from kbc sent me a manual via email. It was way better than the included manual and i suggest asking for the quick start quide from them. I would have been screwed without it. The unit came with several tables and test blocks. It measures b and c scale. It required minor calibration as per the guide. If anyone has any questions or needs a copy of the manual let me know. So far it seems accurate and is easy to use.
