rockwell testing blades

Great advice. I was thinking along the same lines, and have already started making some anvils with the appropriate angle and plan to leave a ledge across the back of the anvil for the blade spine to rest against. Thanks again for taking time to respond and share advice!
 
Wow, I didn't realize I had ever posted before yesterday but in finding my way around the forum I ran across this old thread. LOL
I did come up with something btw and it was featured in an article by Wayne Goddard in Blade Magazine. I don't have a photo handy as it's on my old computer that crashed.
I've only been absent for 5 years ;-) I did an intro in general discussions yesterday finally though.
If I can somehow find a photo of the anvil I designed I'll share it here.
