I am a fairly new large game hunter and this is the first deer I ever shot. also the first animal I had mounted....I was a bird hunter for a bit.
was there a better way to mount my deer??? i am very happy with it
this is what it looked like right after I shot it......I think it is fairly accurate
They are more lively if you mount them while alive.

When does your season start in Mass (OP was more related to archery)?

Archery in Mass starts October 25th I believe and goes for 6 weeks. Shotgun is always the monday after thanksgiving and lasts for 12 days and muzzleloader starts from the end of shotgun to the end of the year.
You can hunt Bow all through the three seasons and you can also hunt muzzleloader through the shotgun season if you wish.
I am going to get a bow for next year, I was at an archery pro shop last saturday checking out the mathews z7, what a nice bow. This years its shotgun and muzzleloader as usual.

LOL. Yours is the first buck I've ever heard of from many a'hunter that's hit hte Vin'yhahd. They amazingly KNOW when everyone arrives with shotguns. LOL
Ditto for the flippin turkeys. They KNOW there is no fall-season in my AO. So the last 3 days, they've been all over the street. We woke up to them wandering around again this AM. All hens, but BIG! They are safe until spring. . . when they will disappear into the woods for a month or two. I'm sure the turkeys near you are hiding well right now, J.

turkeys are even more wily than deer...well the toms are anyway...I could have killed 5 hens with a shovel this spring(note only bearded turkeys can be harvested in Mass in spring, fall season both gender are fair game)
.....but Toms were smart enough to earn that longbeard lol
well I'll pheasant hunt til shotgun deer season and try to shoot a turkey in the few days of turkey season that happens to be during pheasant season
