Usually my Christmas tree guy chops the bottom off for me, but it was like 10° out the night we got it and he suggested waiting till it was above freezing to do it... No problem!
Couple days later I let the rat 6 at it... I kid you not, once I got going, it looked like a powered wood chipper running! Wood chips spitting out and flying everywhere! This tree was a couple inches shorter in about 5 minutes! These rats rock!... Best part? As hard as it is to believe, after hacking a half frozen tree it was still paper slicing sharp! Unreal.
How happy am I that I bought my first swamp rat early this year ? Like crazy! It has been the best knife owning experience I've had! This was expensive to me for a knife but every time I use it I feel it was a great value!

That is a nice looking knife. Congratulations, and what a great way to have some fun with it. Pretty exciting when it still has a paper slicing edge after the exercise you put it through. Just goes to show you how well designed they are. Mike

That is awesome. I love it when someone beats on one of our knives, and the knife just laughs when they are done.

Nice pics! You gonna have to show us pics when your done with the tree and you have to "dispose" of it

Thanks guys, yeah she's a looker. Edge retention to spare. And your right hindsight, beating these baby's makes them smile. It's just a real machine... Good idea Matt about tree disposal lol if I decide to dice it up I'll post pics.

Very cool, and awesome knife!!

I love beating on some Rats!! Thats what they are made for!!

Any chance in getting a side shot of that beauty, don't tell WW or Elof I said this but your R6 may be one of the best looking ones to date.

Sure thing! And thanks! ... Both elof and ww helped me pick this Knife. I was considering a ratmandu but was worried about handle size. Those two informed me of the upper guard modification... I agree in your assessment however!

For most people the choice between drop point and clip point comes down to aesthetics, or the look of the blade. But drop points normally have a stronger tip and work better for a lot of people for bush craft and game skinning/cleaning... and clip points are normally more "stabby" and better self defense tools. Its really just a personal preference. I prefer the look and function of drop points.

Here is the drop pont R6 with the chopweiler and drop point RMD.

Here it is from the side.

Very nice indeed.I love that rmd also, beautiful handles. So many choices with the custom shop. It's about that time of year. I really want a small edc fixed blade for horizontal kydex carry, I have nothing like that. I want to stick with the swamp but bark river is calling on the very small fixed blades... I wonder if I can get an r3 thinned out?

You could order R3 to match your R6... The FFG R3 have much thinner edge than the standard ones.

Don't listen to WW and Elof they are bad news. The next thing you know you will be getting a second loan on your house to get all these cool Swamp Rat drop points!! Trust me if I wasn't married I would have by now.

What do you mean 'all those cool Swamp Rat drop points'?

This is my humble Swamp made drop point gathering ;)

I'm still missing a few...
