Rodent 9 is in the House baby!!!!

Awww yeeeah. Thanks for the pics, DD :thumbup:

Great looking blade and the standard black/black canvas looks killer. Psyched to get this one in hand

No problem bro, it along with the rodent solution will be a sweet do all set up for sure.

and here are two up close pics of the grip. If my hands were slightly larger, it would be perfect when choked up to the top of the handle(ring finger doesnt clear the swell). If I grip it oh so very slightly below the guard(still a rock solid grip, esp when you add the swell), it fits like a glove. I love the grip. Cant wait to get my FREE 711 :D

Hey, since so far you are the man to ask on this, how 'bout telling/showing us how it feels with gloves on - working gloves, winter gloves/mittens, please?

I'm curious about how the grip will perform in use, esp. compared to an HI Khukuri (my heavy non-axe chopper) where the flared pommel prevents fly-away blade and the handle-ring functions as I suspect the R9, etc. handles are meant to (though the overly circular handle on the kuks allows for dangerous twisting of the blade on a sour impact, so I expect this handle to be superior there as with most knives). My limited experience thinks of the R9 handle as a blend of the styles seen on khukuri & junglas.
And to push that comparison further, care to give thoughts/opinions on that expressive guard (comfortable, annoying, awesome, excessive, etc.)? How does it feel choking up to use the choil?

the mailman failed me today, should have been here but the tracking info never updated, must have been a problem she seems stuck in Michigan :grumpy: hopefully tomorrow

I just can't understand why they went away from one of the coolest features of swamp rats - the trigger choil! Maybe this has been covered and I'm beating a dead horse, but I just don't get it...

Only benefit I can see on the new guard is that it is now more snag-proof since its sloped...

Most definitely, DD

Despite its unusual look, I dig that the handle gives such distinctive, secure grips. One choked up, one standard, one back on the handle for chopping.

Blade profile is very similar to the Trailmaster. Maybe I'm way off but the Rodent 9 looks like a near perfect cross between the CS Trailmaster and the Busse SAR series:

Pretty killer :thumbup::D:thumbup:

I agree that the handle resembles the sar series... I think the blade looks like my oldschool satin battle rat.

Doh! Now I need an old school Battle Rat :D

Guess I see TM cause it's what I have. Both great but, with no top guard, the R9 looks more camp capable

Got up and handled this thing again and I'm even more into it than I was last night. Something about its overall hugeness and lock-tight grip just makes me want to bust it out.

This thing is medieval! \m/:eek:\m/

Most definitely an appropriate blade to receive in time for ROCKTOBER
