New Years evening, I was unfortunate enough to break the blade of my Rodent Solution, when I was about to open oysters. Have used my knife to this on several occasions before, but this time it went wrong. Today I decided me as to give the knife a second chance.
The knife had already a stripped blade and now I stripped the rest, sanded down the handle, put it in with linseed oil thinned with turpentine (50%) completed the job with a bowie shape on the blade.

Have a new favorite small EDC knife.

Enjoy :)

Show me your Rodent Solutions.

That. Is. Awesome! Did you use hand tools or a belt grinder?

Small wheel grinder (stone), cold water (be VERY carefull with the tip due to overheathing- 5 sec grinding then cold water and so on...), Dremel on spine- After finishing off the spine with the Dremel, i hand sanded the spine with grit 250 and 400. The tip may be a little blue (1 mm or so), will go away using grit 1200.
Sandpaper on handle and Scotchbrite on blade to finish off with.

Warning: Lindseed oil and cotton can cause fire !!!

ragnerok, sorry that the tip broke. Love the mod though. If you would like could you PM me the reason that the tip broke. Would like to have that in the file.

This is the first (let me emphasize it) THE FIRST clip point I saw that I really think looks sexy.

Awesome work.

Josh, any chance to get this done from the custom shop?

I did break the tip from opening oysters (stabbing and twisting the point of the knife into the muscle, between the two shells). I am pretty sure that the warranty dosnt cover that, thats my own fault and i beliewe that most peolpe on this forum do fully understand that the point of a knife is not made for stabbing and twisting into something hard like a oyster. This is not the first knife i have destroyed by by dooing so, but the Rat was the one which did take most abuse. Now i`m gonna invest in some oyster knives, which is made for that purpose.

When it comes to the knife, it has got a new life as possible the first ever Rodent Bowie, the Prototype?

Think i`m gonna email Trissy and order one from the custom shop. Black G-10 with full satin finish.
