Rodent Solution Pocket Bowie

I did break the tip from opening oysters (stabbing and twisting the point of the knife into the muscle, between the two shells). I am pretty sure that the warranty dosnt cover that, thats my own fault and i beliewe that most peolpe on this forum do fully understand that the point of a knife is not made for stabbing and twisting into something hard like a oyster. This is not the first knife i have destroyed by by dooing so, but the Rat was the one which did take most abuse. Now i`m gonna invest in some oyster knives, which is made for that purpose.

When it comes to the knife, it has got a new life as possible the first ever Rodent Bowie, the Prototype?

Think i`m gonna email Trissy and order one from the custom shop. Black G-10 with full satin finish.

HAHA!!!

Too late pal, I'm already requesting my RS purchase to be flipped as a RRS (Rodent Ragnerok's Solution).

Mine shall be first!!

Small wheel grinder (stone), cold water (be VERY carefull with the tip due to overheathing- 5 sec grinding then cold water and so on...), Dremel on spine- After finishing off the spine with the Dremel, i hand sanded the spine with grit 250 and 400. The tip may be a little blue (1 mm or so), will go away using grit 1200.
Sandpaper on handle and Scotchbrite on blade to finish off with.

Warning: Lindseed oil and cotton can cause fire !!!

Looks great Ragnerok! Was this RS a CG or Satin finish prior to the modding? Did you use a scrotchbrite wheel on the blade or hand finished? I tried hand finishing with just a scotchbrite on my stripped Ratmandu and I'd hate to think how long its gonna take to get mine looking like yours at that right.

That is so cool. Looks like it came from the shop that way. Awesome job. I may have to grab one of those as well.
So we have the
1. Elof R6
2. World Wood DMD
3. Ragnerok RRS

I need to get busy thinking up a cool custom shop variant for people to name after me.

Man my problem is i think of too many customs LMAO, dont get me started on the things i have imagined doing to the KDSH. How about some flying serrations around the beard area and sharpened penetrating edges on the spike :eek:

Functional? Who knows, but it would look bada$$!!

My pictures lies, dosnt look like satin finish in flesh, only on pics., but that is okay with me, cause i like the "raw" finish on Busses and Rats when they are stripped from coating. What appears to be satin finish on my blade, is actually milling marks.

Dosnt have a wheel yet, did use Scotchbride laying flat on a table, allways dooing that after stripping a blade. Remember to move the blade in direction from the spine towards the edge, not along the blade (have to follow the milling marks).

Good luck :)

Thanks everyone, fellow Rats

New Years evening, I was unfortunate enough to break the blade of my Rodent Solution, when I was about to open oysters. Have used my knife to this on several occasions before, but this time it went wrong. Today I decided me as to give the knife a second chance.
The knife had already a stripped blade and now I stripped the rest, sanded down the handle, put it in with linseed oil thinned with turpentine (50%) completed the job with a bowie shape on the blade.

Have a new favorite small EDC knife.

Enjoy :)
