Yeah, the swamp make some tough knives. I beat the crap out of one of my RMD's pretty good (although on wood stuff, not metal) and it is still in good shape after a couple of years of hard use.

There are not many other knives in my collection that I dare use as hard as my RMD.

Great video, thanks for sharing it. I'm glad that you are using a Rodent Solution for that and not your Rat Trap ;) although from what I understand your Rat Trap may have seen some of that abuse also ;)

:D:D

ill try to get some more videos up. stripping wire, cutting copper pipe, cutting home insulation... etc. yes they make tools that do all that. i don't EDC carry a tool bag. i EDC a KNIFE.

I wonder what percentage of other knife makers would call that gross abuse and void any and all warranty coverage? I'm guessing 99%?

i EXPECT nothing. its a tool. like a hammer, drill, etc. if i wear it out, then i simply 'wore it out'

if they refuse to honor the warranty, then i expect nothing.

That's nothing for the Rodent Solution. Abuse, heck it doesn't look like it even marked the coating ;)

:D:D

should i add/make videos on the things i have done and do with:
rat trap
vex
ratchet ?

my ratchet is WELL worn

Which is why 99% of the edged tools in this house are Swamp Rat or Bussekin. With these products we have entered a new era of tool usage that allows one to get creative. If you only do work in a shop where you need only to walk over to the tool box and pick something up that is great, but many here do not have that luxury. Sooner or later we find ourselves having to improvise and buy quality tools with that in mind.

the mere fact they build a good knife is why i buy them. the warranty is lagniappe

Exactly. I have had zero claims in the warranty department since first buying these knives about 6 years ago. I used the thinner Bandicoot to tear out sheet rock and trim one day, used a Camp Tramp to literally tear down a shed with nails just a popping and used a Desert Jack to cut up some copper pipe once. (In all honesty I thought the pipe was a limb it was so corroded and dirty.) After these excercises I got out my sharpening equipment, cleaned up the edges, sharpened them back up and went back to packing. You can't beat that performance.

If you prefer to keep your Swamp Rats as safe queens that is up to you but I have different needs.

ok.
i will start filming what i do.
we cut the flashing and made a video of it in use. we did not make a video of us cutting flashing. in other words, the video was an afterthought, not an intentional use/misuse of the knife.

I hope this is just a demonstration of how tough the knife is, and not an actual tradesman at work lol. So you edc that hammer and not tin snips that can cut it 10 times faster with a better result without the banging noise? :)

Yes, This guy uses his knife for whatever needs to be done. It's his a EDC and it's use as such.
