rodent solution use....

ill try to get some more videos up. stripping wire, cutting copper pipe, cutting home insulation... etc. yes they make tools that do all that. i don't EDC carry a tool bag. i EDC a KNIFE.
Sounds like you should be.

Reminds me of the guy who broke his M6 batoning it with a wrench. Wish I had money to throw away.

Agreed. Everyone should have some basic tools in their truck. And even though SR knives are built to take a beating and Eric gave his stamp of approval here that is knife abuse. A trip to Lowes for a pair of tin snips would have been better than abusing the knife and it would have gotten the job done a whole lot cleaner. That looks like it left a pretty nasty edge. I understand the desire to put a knife through its paces and even beat on them a bit but you should use the right tool for the job at hand.

Well, I've got a shop full of tools. A car full of tools.

I have looked into a portable machine shop. Just not enough use.

And who throws away more money?
Me, buying the knife for 108 and using it?
Or the guy who put 108 into his safe queen?

I'll argue the safe queen. You could buy a picture for less.
I said it again, I don't care if they warranty it. What I do care about is no fear it will break and injure me

Got 2? An orange handled one also? Nice!

Love that color combo.

How about a hi-res close-up of the edge after batoning it through that deadbolt?

To shed some more light on this other worldly concept that most either embrace or reject I thought of an analogy. (I hope I spelled that right.)

Next week I will be at a rifle range. We will start at 100 yards and work our way out to 300 yards, the longest distance this range offers. I will have the old Glock 22 in .40 S&W there and will most certainly be shooting steel at 100 yards with it along with whatever rifles show up. I will be ringing steel with it at that range and will once again prove that any quality tool can be used beyond it's intended purpose if it is of a high enough quality. Ben Duffy type questions that come to mind are:
  • Is this the job the designer had in mind?
  • Is this the right tool for the job?
  • Is there any point when the right tool for the job is sitting right there?
  • Is this guy retarded or just stupid?

I would say "no" to the first three and am awaiting evaluation results on the last.

However crazy it may be there are people who believe in using their tools beyond the scope of that tool's original design or accepted capabilities. For me this simply proves there is a line and also demonstrates where that line is. This results in my having greater confidence in the tool and myself. I hope that gives someone some insight into what I personally am doing. MCInfantry on the other hand is just retarded and likes to tear up stuff.

Use it. You will not regret it.

Well, I am not going to give you an internet whipping for using those baby's however you want. You bought em and you can do whatever you want with em. I am impressed at the lack of damage but after all, they are kinfolk and damn well built TOOLS. I do prefer to use a suitable tool for most jobs when available but glad you chose not too and posted the vids. Just gives me more confidence in the blades because I would not do that under normal circumstances. You just added to my potential uses ideas in a pinch.

Knives are for cutting and slicing tissue, including cellulose, of course. Do what you want, of course, but just because you can do something doesn't always mean you should.

I realize that this is probably not what the knife was meant for, but again, it's what I carry.
It's awful sharp

Way to get after it! I'm guessing you're the kind of guy that doesn't like to borrow tools, prefer to use what's at hand or owned.

I actually have a shop full of tools. And i can make tools too. I'm just not afraid to use a tool outside of their scope.

But you are right. I don't borrow tools.

Nice work on that hog. I hope to be able to butcher a hog soon. Deer are getting kinda boring. :p
