Rodents 5 & 7 are up!

Well said. RatManDu is not replaceable ! ;)

Agreed!

But I will add that no matter how great a Bussekin offering, they do get retired with limited (if ever again) re-releases. So, if anyone is considering a (or another) RMD, it might be time to get more serious.

I got Rodent 6, because there wasn't a Rodent 7 not too long ago. Now there's a Rodent 7... Oi time to save up again

Oh boy - I should be crying after what I just did to my cc..............
Blade, AMS, Tali Ganza, now all of these pieces.....

But I just can't keep this silly grin off my face:D:D:D

PS. Did anybody have a heads up on this??? I guess I totally missed the boat. Glad I got the email though!

Sure is, apx. May be different if ya didnt go to blade, G10/Multi etc etc.

I was there. And will be at this one too. If they are offered to the masses, prices may swell a bit. I almost ordered one. Congrats on yours!

I know the "if ya didn't go" wasn't directed at me.

Yea the RMD is going to hold a place of history I think in regard to the Swamp and I know even a lot of the Busse Combat INFI crowd, BUT it's is going to be interesting to put the two together and see the similarity, differences, and weight to hand balance. The RMD to this date has surpassed every knife in this size range in all of the Busse Kindom. I thought nothing would replace the BATAC then came the RMD so I remain open to the possibility that there is another just as comfortable and maybe even more so. The so called "HUMP HANDLE" thus far is my favorite over ERGO's, Fusions, Straight Handle, Swamps Original Single Finger Grip, and all of the Res-C. *****FANTASTIC JOB SWAMP RAT KNIVES:thumbup::D!!!

Ratweiler ordered! so happy this one is here :)

Rodent 5 will be coming soon... but doubt it would replace the RMD... just another great option is all :)

Interesting. I was thinking exactly the same thing. Hopefully we'd get a heads up before the Swamp retires what is perhaps the most popular blade in its history. But there's no guarantee of that, I suppose.

Anyone else disappointed? I can't say either of these knives excite me in any way, especially considering the 5 looks like an RMD just with a worse handle.

Dangit now I have to decide RMD or R5 for my first Rat. I am just not sure of the handle on the R5 while the RMD handle is widely regaurded as an amazing handle.

Patrick,
For your first you should go with RMD, it's a classic and can't be beaten!
R5, basing my opinions of R4's handles, will not fill your hand as much as RMD, and might be a bit lighter (???).
R4 handle is very comfortable, the knife is very well balanced and I believe it will be the same case with R5.
Blade wise you'd be getting pretty much the same thing.

Make no mistake, I'm ordering R5 soon, and I can see it getting decent amount of work in the future. I don't think it is any worse than RMD, just think that RMD is a must have.

Buy the RMD.

I can elaborate, but don't think it's necessary. Simply- RMD=get one and no regrets.
