Roe deer antler

I had picked up several roe deer antlers at Blade West this past year. Pretty sure there the same antler's that are stuck on rabbit heads and then called "jackalopes". I had bought them mainly to use them for small crown handled knives but the shape of the one I used for this little knife was so perfect I threw the crown away and used the rest of the antler to handle this knife. It has a 3 1/2" forged W-2 blade and a wrought iron half guard. 9" overall. Still not sure if I'll do a normal belt sheath for it or make a necker.

Cool knife. I like how you have your name on the top.

I usually don't like antlers or bones too much but this one is pretty cool.

Raymond, way neat! This knife has Scagel written all over it, although you probably didn't have that in mind while making it. One of Scagels Bird and Trout knives had a antler fork, sort of simuliar to this. I remember reading how Mr. Fowler really liked the feel of it, it really fit the hand. It had the shape of a fish tail, as this one does. Now, admittingly, this knife isn't for us lefties, but heck, I'd love to have it on the wall just to look at.
Good going Raymond!

Ray, that deer must have grown that antler just for that blade as it is a perfect match. Another great looking knife. Can't go wrong with stag!

Robert, actually I think it works well in either hand but I see it hanging on a wall in real life. Wayne Goddard in my book is the Master of Antler. He's done things with it that you wouldn't think possible.

Looking at the finished knife you would think it was an easy one to make. Actually finding an antler shaped just right to bring a classic like this one to life is almost impossible, then to do it justice as Ray did speaks very highly of his talents.

Nice Job Ray

I think the over all color scheme plays a big part in the knife too ,,
it looks pleasantly dated

I really love your WI fittings (on this and your other knives)!
Your knives always seem to so graceful and visually well balanced.
