Thanks for bringing it up. I missed that one. I'll most probably try to pick one up today. Let us know what you think of it when you're done.

The Lance Armstrong book is recommended to anybody that wants to understand the power of the human spirit and having great friends. If that book does not give you hope, give up know!!

Mr Leo - are you a cyclist?

Knife content, when I got the book as a present, I used my CQC6 to open the wrapping paper - not enough is made of this essential ability of the CQC series.

Regards,

Ed

Lifter4him, have every issue of 'Fighting Knives'(somewhere) until they pulled the plug on Greg Walker. No explanation from Larry Flint Pubs. Greg Walker did an excellent job. Purchased my first fighter from John Smith and ordered Emerson after articles in 'Fighting Knives'. Hope JW introduces himself.-Dick

Yea I cycle a bit...more of a novice than anything. Mainly MT bike. Lance's book has touched me on many levels and has made me question a lot of things. 'The BASTARD' as referred to in the book has affected several close family members...I have lost too many to it :(

Yes the movie is called BLACK HAWK DOWN...thats the one! :)

Heres a link of the official site

Black Hawk Down

You got to see it when it comes out Bel. The book is also an interesting read.

I'm currently reading Echo Platoon by Marcinko.

I consider his fiction stuff literary bon-bons, much like the James Bond novels. They are entertaining, there is some gadgetry and snippets of reality here and there, but in the end it's just escapism. He has developed his own style of full-tilt testosterone driven prose, which you get used to after a while. I would certainly never buy the books in hardcover, but if you can get them for less at Amazon or someplace cheap, they are fun.

I definitely want to both read the book and see the movie of Black Hawk Down. I heard somewhere that some of the bad guys that our troops fought off in Somalia were really Al Queda trained terrorists. I don't know if this is true or not, but I thought that was intriguing.

Aaahhhh...Blackhawk Down. What a kickass book! As I read it for the first time I kept thinking to myself, "Holy sh!t, this situation can't get any worse!". Then I'd turn the page to find that yes, it CAN (and DOES) get worse! Those Rangers and D-Boys went through HELL. Shame we didn't hear more about it at the time. Just an interesting snippet: During one of the many firefights in this book, US Navy SEAL John Gay was shot in the upper thigh with a 7.62x39 AK round. His Randall Combat knife (I think it was a Model 14) took the hit. He later tried to sell it to Randall, as an advertising piece ("Randall Knives stop bullets, etc.."). They declined. Now wouldn't THAT be a cool collector's piece? I asked Frogman over on TacticalForums about it, and he said he'd put in a good word for me when he ran into Mr. Gay...no word yet!

Marckinkos books are great entertainment-period. As far as Greg Walker-this should be interesting. I was a big fan of Fighting Knives (and have a huge stack of them) until Greg spent all his time crying about getting a CIB. Give me a break. Why the heck would any real warrior beg for a medal or decoration. Real warriors who have gone into action in places that we aren't really at are happy to know what they did and don't need a trinkit to feel good about it. I refuse to wear any decorations or medals because I am disgusted by the means that many people will go to get one. Its not what it is all about.
