Anybody got a pic of this knife? I've heard a lot about it, but I've never seen it. As a disciple of all things Dickie, it'd be cool to own, but I'll bet the damn thing costs more than the dress customs I've seen here...

The pictured knife above is mine. It is one of the original Rogue Warriors. It is my understanding that the naming of this knife is what caused some of the falling out of Mr. Marcinko and Emerson knives (use of the name). After this, the knife became just The Warrior. If you have read Dick Marcinko's books and noticed his thoughts on knife design (need for long depth penetration, etc) you'll see that this blade fullfills the requirements he lays out. Personally, I just love the thing as an awesome anti-personnel knife, pure and simple. The knife is valuable, and as I stated in another post, even Ernie was a little surprised when he last saw this one. It is a great example of his earlier tactical stuff when he was making a lot of specialty blades for the Spec Ops world.

LOL - thanks John. I keep forgetting that the Gallery has all my answers.

Nyeti - NICE knife, dude! Wow... me wants...

How "old" is it, anyway? And, from your description, I'm assuming it's very rare, so I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Thanks guys!

Hey See2, I'll probably get flamed for this, but if you want a sharpened pry bar, look a little lower on the M/M page, past Emerson, and check out Strider. Got to remember to bring in my Simonich, Blackwood, and Griffith to show you. The Simonich is a Talonite, the Blackwood is a modified version of his Litewave in D2, and the Griffith is a patrolman.

It is not the fall that kills you. It is the realization that "yes, you did something that stupid."

LOL! B, the only reason I'm interested in it (aside from the fact it's from Ernie), is cuz he made it for Marcinko, and the man is my God... I'd love to have one just to have! I don't go the "sharpened pry bar" route in most cases.

See2,
While I am also a very big Marcinko fan, please remember that the biggest Marcinko fan of all is Dickie himself. While he certainly was or is an "operator", remember that except for the first book, all are classsified as fiction so exaggerations abound. For instance, it is highly unlikely that every member of his team does reps with 500 lbs in the bench press as stated in more than one book. Having been involved with the strength game intimately for the past 25 years, I can tell you that 500 lb bench presses happen much more often in conversation than in reality.
Yes, I believe the Rogue Warrior knife is what caused the falling out between Dick and Ernie. At least that's the story I've heard.
As stated above, I am also a fan of the books and the man, but he clips his knives to his pockets one at a time just as any other man does.
Nyeti, sweet knife!!!

Lifter - all good points. All I'm saying is I respect the man for what he's done and what he believes in. Sure pretty much everything after RW was fiction - lots of fluff for the fans to eat up. But the first book told me everything I needed to know.

And as for clipping - the only difference there is his pants probably cost a hell of a lot more than mine!

Lifter4him is right on here.
I have trained w/ and still know two of "MOB SIX's" tough Studs. While they are STUDS in every since of the word. There's no way they can Bench 500 LBS. They are stronger than average for sure, a 500 lb. Bench is tough and not many really do it as Lifter4him points out. I doubt seriously if they ever could. I think the appropo word here is EMBELLISH gents. When you think about it 500 LBS. sounds alot more impressive than 315 LBS. for 6 to 8 reps.
IMHO

Nyeti's RW is the best specimen I have seen ever. It's a classic and just plain "BAD".
Some people who are not in the know poke fun at it's size or balance. It will work just fine on any Cut, Slash, Thrust, Redirected
Attack etc.

Having met the man at a book signing and working daily with a guy that was under his command I can say that the best way to get over the fascination with Mr. Marchinko is to meet him. A lot of people think that he walked on water, and I am sure that for them he did. Others that know/knew him have other things to say. MY personal slant is that I would take tac classes from him, but he is not one that screams to mind on my Great People list. Any more.

I enjoy his books, but like anything else you gotta take more than one point of view. From his bio you get one picture. I went a little deeper and learned that is is far from perfect and, from the info I have, not someone I would consider as friend.

Funny that someone mentioned Strider.....As many of you know I am very good friends with the Strider guys, and I have been carrying their knives as my primary fixed blades (duty use) since the early 90's. I also got the Rogue sometime around 93 or 94. I am very prone to the sharpened crow bar thing, and am not ashamed in any way about that. The Rogue was carried very regularly in either a backpack, or inside the pants in the middle of my back. I have never met Marcinko personally, but I have trained with many of the same guys from 6 that Tamishigiri has. Most of my friends in the Teams are west coast guys, so they are not as enamored with Dick that others are. Almost every Specwar operator I have met who is familiar with Marcinko agree that he is probably one of the best small unit leaders ever, and is a great motivator. The same people will also tell you that he is also a great embellisher. Personally I would love to meet him, and would really like to train with him. I imagine he is a ball to party with after a day of training. I find his books to be enjoyable entertainment, but they are certainly not worth revering as somesort of bible on tactical operations.

I think Ernie is going to be delivering a custom version of the Rogue to me this year. At least that is what he told me when he finally delivered the two CQC7's in November. I ordered a custom fixed blade five years ago that combined the handle of the Trivector with a four inch version of the Rogue Warrior blade. I'll let you know when I get it, how it came out.

Yes. For more Marcinko info check out the Rogue Board. It's currently down, but should be back up soon.

Well, again, all good points. And, yes, it's true that one side to a story never sheds full light on the issue. I'm sure MANY people have had problems with him. And I'm sure people who have actually met him (I haven't, yet) have a better "feel" for the guy than I do. Maybe my saying "he is my God" was a little strong, and not well defined. As a man, I'm sure he has his issues - we ALL do. But as an Operator (which is where the "God" part comes in) he's way up there. I respect the man for doing what he did to make sure his men were trained as best they could be, doing what he had to to get the job done, and not caring who's toes he stepped on to do it. He is an excellent leader, and I'd be proud to serve under him. I also try to take the things he values (leading from the front, unit integrity, do what you have to do to get it done) and use 'em in my life. It's cool to know that Tamishigiri and Nyeti have met and trained with some of Mob 6. And, yep, Tam EMBELLISH is definitley the word to use. I'd love to hang with the guys for a night, and burn a bar down or something.

Oh.... forum content. Look at that! My Commander just hopped into my hand saying "open me, open me!"So, I think I'll go do that.

Marchinko is the SH*T. I have all his books. And I would also like to get a hold of that knife.
