Winner: After review, I have to give this to Doogoon. Saving a whole party that ended up getting people laid, someone into knives, and even someone a girlfriend is just plain hard to beat. Email me your info bro and I will have a BK13 on the way to you shortly. Sorry to all who didn't win, I enjoyed all of your stories and if I was a richer man I would buy a round of Remoras for everyone. Thanks for playing.

I will preface this with the prize as to some it may not be enough to bother with, but IMO it is worth the minimal effort it will take to participate. The prize will be a BK13 (Remora). Small, I know, but I am not rich right now. I do, however, have enough extra funds to give back a little to this community with a tiny GAW and that is enough for me for now (as I hope it is for everyone who enters). Thanks again!

I love it whenever I can use my knives to help people because so many view knives only as weapons and it gives them a chance to see them as helpful tools. So to enter this contest, all you have to do is post a story about when you used a BKT to help someone, whether it was cutting their sandwich for them or chopping down a tree in your neighbor's front yard or even etching or stripping or helping to customize someone else's Becker for them for free just to make them smile (not as a paid service).

Rules:
-18 or over, sorry

-CONUS only, sorry again, shipping would be 3X the knife cost!

-Be a Beckerhead or become a BH by the end of the contest

-Pictures not required but will definitely help your odds (doesn't have to be pictures from your actual story, it can be pictures of the knife you used to help them or the knife you customized for someone or the person themselves, pictures are just always good 'round here!)

-Your story does not have to be from the past, if you see this contest and it inclines you to go do something nice with your BKT, please go ahead and use that as your entry!

-Light chatting is fine, just post 'OFFICIAL ENTRY' above your official entry and you're good

I will pick a winner by the 22nd of this month, good luck everyone and thanks for making BKT Forum a rad place to be.

*OFFICIAL ENTRY- BECKERHEAD 236*

There was a bon fire that I was invited to and no one brought wood. (it was also raining all week and they expected to just find wood lying around) I used my BK2 to make wood small enough for them to get a fire going with a blow torch from the logs that were lying around. (did I mention that the party planners were smart people?) I made a mess and I was terribly inefficient as I'd barely ever done and splitting or firewood prep before, but we had a good fire going for a while.

That in turn helped 15 people get drunk, 1 lonely person found a girlfriend, (they are still going out I think- 3 or so months strong!) 2 dudes to get laid and got someone into knives.

I took this picture later that night. I was so proud of finally scuffing up my knife doing something with it.

EDIT: I should also mention that when I got there, they were coming close to cancelling the party due to being unable to get a fire going.

Lol didn't even notice until you posted that, and thanks!

P.S. What are you still doing up?!

I don't work tomorrow. I'm too much of a free spirit to be responsible of my sleeping habits when I have no responsibilities.

We have a winner! LOL Good for those 2 dudes, too bad there weren't more women present :D

This sounds like one of my firesides, where the mead horn goes around the circle more times than anyone can count.....

As you know I work at Bass Pro Shop and I spend moste of my time at the knife counter. In my opinion the best thing I have done to help another with my Beckers is probably talk them into buying a Becker for themselves. I'm not actually using a knife per say but I'm using mine from experience to help them with their choice of knife. I don't know how many people have come back to me saying "thanks Man I love my new Becker". Now if I can just get the store to carry Beckers :D

Official entry:

at the Spring gathering I taught one of the campers how to Fisk his blades -- demonstrated on his 14, got it sharp enough I didn't realize I cut myself for a few minutes. (I also did bad, bad things to Nick's unground but HT'd Camillus BK9 blank...)

bloomin' sage!

Can I join just for the ride not going to enter for the win? Or win and not receive the prize?

Just for the fun tale...

Ok I will have to ask my friend for the pics he has so later they will be here. Pretty similar with the first.

It was autumn this year(Brazil is in south pole), and I went to my friends apartment, it was the coldest day of the year so far about 8°C(45°F) it was me about 8 friends and my girl...

He had a firepit in his balcony(closed balcony) with some firewoods log there sitting around, we where all feeling cold that afternoon then I asked him:

— Have you ever lit that firepit it's damm cold here.

To my amusement the aswer was:

— Nope, we never did, it's been siting here for about 2 years just for the looks.

Then I proposed to lit it for him and he agreed to make a test because it was so cold. Went to my car grabbed my car ultility bag there i picked my BK-2 a light my fire army firesteel and my can of petroleum impregnated cotton pads(prefer then over balls).

I started battoning that firewood that was sitting there and noticed it was pretty strange feeling over the wood like it was starting to rot because of humidity, I was cold so didn't care about it. Made a good box with the wood placed the cotton pad and striked the firesteel with my knife. Bamm everybody cheered for the fire and heat that would come.

Then my strange feeling come to a disaster. The wood was damp and didn't burn well made a lot of SMOKE in his home before we could open the balcony windows to get the smoke out.

In the end we made some smores I got a friend into knifes a friend into fire making a girlfrind hot(if you know what I mean).

The friend I got into knives has bought a custom made brazilian knife made by Zakharov.

The friend I got into fire told me that even with smoke he and his family are liting the pit everyday that its cold.

And that's all folks.

O.K., here's something that happened not too long ago.
I was at work at the glass plant. Working around the furnace is hot.
The ambient temperature gets so hot in fact that extra layers of clothing is needed.
I.E.- Nomex hood(or two),T-shirt, sweatshirt, and a green flame resistant coat over that.
I was working on the furnace with a co-worker.
His green jacket was brand new. About 2 minutes into it he ran off and started cooling down by the outside louvers.
I went to see what was wrong.
The top button of his green jacket had a metal back and was burning his neck.
I had my trusty BK-11 in my back pocket. I handed it to him and he sliced the button off.
Needless to say he was very greatful.
The BK-11 didn't save the world that day, but it did save my co-worker from getting any more burns on his neck.
The Necker saved his neck...lol

Here is a picture of my jacket. As you can see, the top metal button has been Neckerized! The first thing I do when I get a new hot work jacket is slice that top button!
Thanks Rogue!

My story doesn't go into extensive detail about what took place. To put in simple terms it served a role in preventing the possible death of a neighbor by a loose and angry pitbull that was intent on mauling him viciously. The neighbor survived the encounter and is recovering. The bulldog is still missing. Had the baseball bat been handy at the time it would've been used instead.

Like me, prolly most Beckerheads don't like tootin' their own horn.
Nice idea for a contest, just...difficult.
