Roman Gladius build

Fantastic work! I have a number of friends in the SCA doing Roman persona's that would die to have this! I agree with the customer's desire to have an aged look to the piece as these shiny "wall hanger" pieces don't always impress in a re-enactment setting.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks very much Thorlak. I appreciate it.

I really like it!

Alot of original swords show file marks across the blade and fittings alot like the mill marks on the blade, so it suits.

The sword looks very individual, it has a certain style which is unique that I really like about it.

Great work!

Thanks Bill. I've done numerous big knives but this was my first sword project and I really enjoyed the process.
Not sure that it's absolutely correct historically because I really preferred the Viking type pommel to the bulbous
Roman type.

Thanks for commenting.

Hi David,

There's an example of a Gladius hilt which is almost identical to the type you used, which is uncanny:

& also this one:

Once again very nice work!!!

That looks really nice, the file work on the pommel and gaurd is a nice touch . The worn look suites it well .
