It is ironic that Ron's most recent creation/masterpiece has not gotten into the hands of more knife users, but I'm sure most people will appreciate the time and effort Ron Hood put into creating the Buck Hoodlum even more now after Ron's sad passing. His legacy will continue to grow as younger knifeguys and survivalists discover his fine work. He was arguably most famous for his survival techniques and training, which were as innovative as his knife and gear designs. My Regards are sent to the Hood family, his friends, and his followers. RIP Ron Hood, master survivalist and knifemaker!:(

A sad loss indeed. I read the post from his wife on their website. Very sad. My condolences go out to his wife and family. May he RIP.

i did not know much about him but its always sad when when a legend passes.

R.I.P mr. hood.

Deepest condolences to the family and friends. A great woodsman and gear designer. May he Rest in Peace.

That is so weird. I just heard of Ron Hood for the first time yesterday. I was watching nutnfancy interview him. The day I heard about him is the day he died it turns out. Sad. Seemed like a good guy.

Don't know who he is, but his manner of passing is very unfortunate. I have already lost a close relative to cancer, almost lost another, and may be losing another soon. Cancer is no joke. I wouldn't wish cancer on the worst of my enemies.

Ron was the grandfather of most modern survival instructors.
He was a good teacher and a very funny man.
His version of the perfect survival blade, the TOPS/Buck Hoodlum, is a fantastic large blade. I’m glad he thought out of the box and designed it. I’ll probably think of him next time I use mine.
