The Rookie would be my choice in this case. Though the Para is beautifully made, it doesn't quite fit my hand. The choil is too small for my size 15 index finger.
But, if your fingers are normal sized, then the Para is a wonderful knife. I really like the compression lock.
I am going to second this.
For me the para and mili carry the same, but the para bunches my fingers up all wrong. The Mili has a perfect grip, so being they carry the same I always carried a Mili. Anyways I sold my paras.
A few weeks ago I took a new Rookie in on a trade, thinking I would trade her out. I am a steel nut so most my EDCs are s30, bg42, zdp, s90. Anyways I also do not dig the short hollow grind on it.....
But I tell you that damn knife is in by pocket all the time now
I reprofiled it, and she will zip through anything I have had to cut. Its thinner than a small Sebbie, so you do not even know its there. And, VG10 steel was a favorite of mine when I first got into the knife hobby. Now I know why, it takes a great buffed edge, and will hold it. I hit my EDCs on a UF benchstone before they go in my pocket anyways.
So Vg-10 will get that razor edge back faster than the "other super steels."
I am thinking about sending her to Tom for a high hollow grind to really push this knife to the next level. And knocking the bump of the handle, it bunches my fingers up when I put all four finger on it. Three finger grip with your pinky hanging off a little is perfect.
Anyways if you have larger knives, I would say try the Rookie. Its a great buming around the house knife, she will clip ITWB undie style and you will never know its there.
