Rookie Sebenza question...

In my experience with my Umnumzaan, the customer service (Spa) was so good and the cost was so little that I wouldn't worry about it. You could always call and talk to Heather and get an estimate on the work required. Gosh, I don't know, but do Sebbies EVER need any work? Some fellow the other day said he mailed his into the Spa after using it for sixteen years.

I think that jdavis882 on YouTube has addressed this. He loosens the screws for the slabs and then pushes one slab north while he pulls the other slab south and then tightens the screws. He says this has worked for him several times. I'm sorry if I wrote down the wrong guy, but I think it was jdavis.

p.s. Yes, A. Dragg underneath me is correct.

jdavis filmed this Youtube for getting an earlier lockup and for possibly eliminating sticky lock. A. Dragg is correct in that it may do NOTHING to fix your blade centering. Sorry about that.
Sonny

This not only gets you an earlier lockup in the direction jdavis pushed the ti slabs but will center the blade as well. If your knife was put together this way and has deep lock-up you'll kill 2 birds with one stone.

You can also push the slabs the opposite directions if no change is seen and may possibly fix it.

What's going on is that you're aligning the pivot bushing and locking it in place. The same concept as centering folders with SS liners. You may then see that the blade isn't ground incorrectly but it's canted and gives the perception that it's uneven, when in fact it's canted to one side or the other.

It's a no brainer to give it a try and if not, you can still probably send the knife to CRK expedited delivery and get it back in time. Best of luck

Did you try it yet? Watch the video and loosen the screws, push one up & one down, then tighten from the rear forward.

Just tried it and nothing. Grrrr

It was worth a shot. I wouldn't have expected it to work, though, because I've done that lockup trick with a couple of my Seb's and it never un-centered them. I also never heard JDavis mention that "by the way, this will un-center your blade". So if it doesn't mess up the centering, it probably won't correct centering either. I'd still try doing it both directions, though. In theory, it should help center it.

Ok, I called CRK this morning...unfortunately they said that it was unlikely I would have the knife back before we left the country. I guess I will take it "as is" and when I get home send it in. Hopefully my OCD wont go crazy.

This doesn't seem to do anything for the blade centering. The video JDavis made with that technique was for making the knife get earlier lockup. You can shift the scales like that and it makes it lock up earlier.

If you watch the video, you will see that jdavis actually does address BOTH issues within the same video. I had an off-centered blade. Loosened my pivot screw and two others as seen in video. Pushed/pulled a minor amount while locking it back up.
The lockup went down to 25% from the "video pre-adjust" 70%, and
The Blade centering is now perfect.

After adjustment:

You can count on it. Jdavis knows WTH he is talking about.
