I bought one of these last week and it should be getting here soon. It is the G10 version, with SE. The previous owner said it looked to been lightly used. I bought this knife thinking of an EDC, but when I looked around on the net for info, I did not find much out. The Rookie should have the org. box. Could some of the spyer pros help me out with this one? Should I put this one up or just use it? I would just hate to use a rare knife when doing hard work and mess it up.

Thanks,
John

The G-10 Rookies are either unlinered or single linered, depending on the age of the specimen. There are better choices for hard use, at least as I define it. They are also getting harder and harder to come by, so if you wear it out, break it, or lose it, you may search a long time to find a replacement.

It is a nice, slim knife with a lot of edge for the handle length. When the upcoming sprint run hits the market, I'll have to get one or two. For now, I hate to carry mine just because I know I couldn't replace it for twice what I gave for it.

Well it looks like I am back to using my delica until I find another hard work knife. Would a non liver rookie we more prised than a single liner? How many years were the rookies produced? I have not hear too much about. I like the fact it is smaller than the police.

I may just have to get a chinook, I have wanted one for a while.

Thanks,
John

If you want a real hard working knife you might want to check the D'Allara Drop Point out. You can get it's hollow grind blade scalpel sharp, and the handle ergos are just lovely in the hand. Wonderful knife...great blade, great handle, secure lock. My fave work knife ever.

I'd have to believe the unlinered version is more prized by Collectors as they are fewer, especially in pristine condition. The liner was added since the clips were working loose from the unlinered version.
