I have checked the Atlantis and Peppermill and can't get any better rates than those you see advertised here:

http://reno.hotelscheap.org/

So, shoot your best shot. We will have a meeting room at either the Peppermill or Atlantis. These two casinos are about 3 blocks apart -- walking time maybe 10 minutes between the two. Remember, Reno is not a big town. Cab fare from just about any location in Reno to Peppermill or Atlantis will be average five bucks, ten at most.

Those deals are even better then the $39 you were hopeing for Uncle Bill! I'm trying to get that weekend off still...how far ahead do you think we should book our hotel if we can go to the convention? Looks like the Atlantis and Peppermill are just about the same $$ which one is nicer would you say?

One Add says $15-19 and then you click on "rates" and they start at $79.00. Am I reading the site wrong?

They have one room at $19 so they can advertise the rate. Of course, it's always booked.

Peppermill & Atlantis are about even -- both are top notch casinos. Peppermill got rated as one of the top 10 in the US. Atlantis didn't make the top 10 but it's just about as good.

Chris, if you're driving check some of the motels. I think you can get in for $40 or $50 and you'll be a ten minute drive away.

Just about any motel will be within 10 or 15 minutes. Look for the best price but check with me before you firm anything up.

Got ya!;) Do you know of any good motels close by?

Chris, Barb, myself and DaveK flew into Reno for the 1st convention and stayed at a motel downtown. The rooms were more than adequate and reasonable, although I don't recall how much. Maybe Barb will remember the name of the place and the cost when she gets back.
We rented a car at the airport, again really reasonable, and Dave and I split the cost making it even better for the both of us.

Food is dirt cheap at the casinos!!!! We had a lunch buffet for around $5.00 that was all you could eat with the largest selection I have ever seen(!!!!), even beats the Golden Sirloin which is the best in Tulsa.:D

For the "Shopping Cart Train?" Or do you think they'll have to circle the carts and camp out in the middle?

Are you asking if our cars will be safe? I hope so as I just bought a 2003 Silverado and nothing better happen to my truck or I'll cry!!!
Is there a lot of auto theft in Reno? Will we be able to park in a safe place?

We do get our share of theft here but not as bad as some places. Illegal immigrant workers arrive here with nothing and often steal to get started and then there are the lowlifers who lose their paycheck at the casino and need something they can hock for beer money. Bicycles are a prime target for starter transportation. Some dirty, filthy, lousy, rotten SOB stole mine right off the porch a couple of nights back and we were home, too.

I had a car stolen when I was living in So. Cal. First in my life. I bought a chain and padlock and rigged it around seat anchor thru steering wheel -- something I've done ever since on every car. At least it discourages the crooks looking for something fast and easy. At any rate, no theft since. And I didn't have my bike chained to the porch -- big mistake.
