Root Beer

I generally stick with the generic (A/W, Mug, etc) root beer. I don't think I've had most of those mentioned so far.

Saying root beer should have caffeine is like saying a cognac should have wheat added to it's distallation...

+1 except change Henry Weinhard's(never had it) for Goose Island. I think more RB should have caffeine.

Made in Oregon, it's the grocery store Pacific Northwest microbrew- the Weinhard's Premium Reserve isn't bad for a 9 dollar 12 pack of beer, either...

Oh... Virgils Root Beer is made in Heaven by lovely angels , doing honest work for us to enjoy here on Earth.

It is what I call a sippin' root beer , sip it and let the tastes flow unto your being , you will transfrom into a floaty wisp of joy and harmony.

I love it.

Tostig

I'm glad someone else has had it! I love their cream soda

I am diabetic and havnt found one I like that is sugarless. But before I did like A&W in a frosty mug!

The original A&W served in their drive-ins 20 years ago was the best
I've ever had. Not the same since KFC acquired the chain.

Although not Root Beer, the town I grew up in was home to Briars Birch Beer, when we were little street rat we'd swipe kegs of the stuff, the night security guy got wise and left us a tapped keg one night, after that we always returned our empties never took more than we could drink in the woods over the weekend.

We even had a Ramada Inn where we'd get our ice from to keep the keg cool.

Now a days it's Stewarts for me.

Drinking Virgil's is a truly transcendent experience. You have to take care to drink it slowly and savor the developing flavor as it slides along your tongue and palate. Sprecher's is great, but I can only get it in growlers. Saranac brewery makes a good one too. But Virgil's is head and shoulders above both of them.

Fitz on tap is pretty good.
I also had a regional "sold only by the keg" RB from either Milwaukee or Detroit years back that was phenomenal, but can't remember the name.
Sioux city Brich beer is pretty decent
Blenheim used to make the best ginger ale/ginger beeron the planet - haven't tried them since they changed ownership.

A&W makes a sugar-free- a little sweet, but very recognizable as A&W

Also, I'm a big fan of Ginger Beer (ginger ale on steroids). Cock n Bull is my favorite!

Have you tried Bundaberg Austrailian Ginger Beer? A guy on another forum compares it to bottled Unicorn tears. He says that means its just really really good.

I like A&W diet. I don't know why but regular sodas/colas/rootbeers knock me on my butt. Can't handle the sugar content or something.
