Here are my two cents.
The A.B.S. needs a couple of more folks who can run the contests and try to spread them out. I think efforts will be made to spread the competition around. I bet they have already been discussed, but it is hard for the same folks to set these up. This was the first year of the A.B.S. Championship. Lets give them a chance. Better yet consider offering assistance and getting more involved.
On the events themselves, to the gallery, I know that one of the most enjoyable aspects of the competion is the creativitity of each "event". The events are designed to entertain and test different aspects of cutting and chopping ability. Part of the fun is the speculation of the contestants and gallery on what type of wacky test is comming up this time. To make them uniform would take much enjoyment of the competition away. If all of the events were standardized, you would see knives made be made as a slight compromise to each known event. Keeping a few of the events unknown is a very good idea. In my opinion, I would like to see the changing aspect of the competition unchanged. The unknown events of a competition allow for more efficient growth in the art.
