Was missing its bail when I bought it, so I made a new one from brass wire twisted in a pair, and soldered to make the bail stiff. Then flattened and drilled the ends and attached it with a peened-over brass wire nail.
Nice job on the bail, Sven!! Nice knife also!!

A few awesome Russell's popped up recently and the two real ones went well above my pay scale (and they rightfully should have) but this one definitely didn't have the same collector interest, lucky for me.

This is my new "not a Russell" made from 1933-41 according to information found on this forum written by Primble Primble . Thanks for that! I'm thrilled to learn about these companies.

It's been a trusty tool for someone over the years. Quite a bit of sharpening but no real abuse. Very strong and snappy with no blade play. The covers are a bit worn from use but there are no cracks or damage. Nice swedge on both sides of the blade. It's a good one! I'm a happy camper.

Not a Russell navy knife, but it's a good start!

These 163's are Schrade gold! Big, snappy and rock solid.

This one matches the catalog descriptions with it's cocobolo covers.

The other one has mystery wood covers so I had to get one with cocobolo you see..... No reason to just have the one. It'll see some use for sure!

If more variations pop up, or advertising ones, or really really nice ones.... The pile will surely grow.

I might actually make one for my first full slipjoint project. That's how much I like em! The plan is in motion.
