RoseCraft Knives

It's a nice pattern for which I'm a sucker for, however I'm tired of companies playing the limited run game to trigger impulse buys. I'm not playing the GEC game with a Chinese manufacturer who could easily keep all models in production due to their large manufacturing capacity. The two I have will have to suffice.

Arrived today, now...do I keep the other one??? hard to tell right now as both are quite nice. Fairly sharp, flush at all stops and perfectly centered, excellent build quality.

sorted out, the other one is up for sale now, can't keep them all !

One thing I noticed this morning was on the blade well side the liners were about 1/2mm proud of the stag, where the spine side was perfectly flush. So I carefully used my WorkSharp Ken Onion sharpener with the blade grinder attachment to remove the liners down to meet evenly with the stag. Several grits were used and then a buffer to help smooth it all out. Much better now.

BUT, as you might imagine, once you grind down the liners it will leave a very crisp edge along the inside of the well, so I have a deburring tool that will fit down into the well and then 'deburr' the sharp edges off, worked out great.

Received a French Broad Jack in rosewood today. Again, fit, finish and action are very nice. The only “flaw” I can find is that the backspring is just slightly sunk in the closed position. Super negligible, just enough to catch a nail on, and open and half stop are perfectly flush. Wood to metal transitions are perfectly smooth, as are the pins and shield. The shape of the handle feels great in hand. Another winner in my book.

Wanted to go with a cloth slip on this Nolichucky. Beard & Owl did a hell of a job. Very happy with the knife and slip. Perfect fit on the slip and this will get plenty of pocket time.

Good looking Barlow that they released today. Otter Creek Barlow. I'll have to order this one.
It is good looking. Had that one come out before the Loosahatchee Jack, I’d probably have gotten that instead. That said, I really enjoy the Loosahatchee Jack a lot.

Since they’re exactly the same size, I don’t know if I’ll get one of those Otters, but I do like that clip blade shape and longer Barlow bolster. Not super crazy about the Otter print, but I’d be fine with it.

I currently have two Case barlows inbound. Those, in addition to the couple Bear and Son barlows I recently got, I might be barlowed up enough for a while. Maybe.
