Hey guys, I've been looking at getting myself another Leuku.
I already own a Järvenpää Leuku, and I love it. When I get the opportunity to get outdoors, I usually go out of my way to cut, slice and chop all manner of things with it.
I've also been working on using it properly, with the "flick cuts" and such.

Well, lately the Roselli line of Leukus have caught my eye.
But my question to you is, how do they hold up?
1. Weight? I see that they are thicker than my current Leuku. Does this make it difficult to use proper handling techniques with them?
2. Handles? I am not a very large man, but I have big hands for my size, will the handles be suitable for me?
3. Craftsmanship? I hear a lot of good things about Roselli knives, do they live up to their name?

Another problem I am having, is choosing between the larger(8in blade) or smaller(5 in blade) Leuku.
I think I like the look of the 5 inch blade more, but will I still be able to chop properly and efficiently with it? (I'm referring to those flick cuts mainly)

Any and all advice is appreciate guys, thank you for reading! :D

Roselli blades are terrific. They are users, no frills, going by my erapukko (hunter) and my Carpenter, both in W9 high carbon (made by Krupp, good stuff). Doubt you'll be disappointed.

If you're used to the Iisakki broad pomel, I'd say you should try to handle a Roselli before buying as the pomell on their leukus has really just a hint of flare. Rather big sized handles though.

Speaking of weight, you'll have to accostume again a bit as the Iisakki weights about 8 oz, while the Roselli is about 11 oz. No problems in tecnique, you'll just have to recalibrate the blows after the different weight, but won't take long.
Personally I shifted from a 8 oz leuku to a 15,7 oz one with rather ease.

Speaking of craftmanship, as already said, you won't find any frill or exceptional polishing. I'd say tool like finish.

If you'll mainly use it for chopping go for the longer one.

Thank you guys very much!
I appreciate the input.
I hate that it's hard to find any good Scandi knives locally. (Here in SC, there's not much demand for them, so we don't see a lot)

Maybe I'll luck out at a future gun show and find one to grope! :D
