My finish came off after spilling vinegar on it. AG VANGUARD. I wont go into the whole story .
I finally couldn't stand it anymore. I have followed the vinegar story and kept procrastinating about doing a vinegar dunk.
only thing is, I had already smoothed down my rosie grips from some annoying use scratches that I didn't like, and had already put a couple coats of tru-oil on them.
So the wife just caught me with a rosie handle stuck down about 2 inches in the vinegar jug.
After 40 years, she is used to these antics so no biggie there.
But, after letting it soak in there for a couple of minutes, and then doing nothing but shaking it off and laying it on a paper towel to dry, and then wiping it down with same paper towel.
There was no adverse effect at all.
I dug through the toys but don't have anything else with removeable factory rosies that still have the factory finish or I would give them a vinegar dunking.
The tru oil is in a small 3 oz that will last forever unless you get off into some large project. The bottle is marked Gun Stock Finish.
Tung oil probably does the same thing, but from what I have found it only comes in pint or quarts.
So my curiousity is satisfied untill I come up with an abused user rosie handeled knife to play with. I guess I won't mess with any minties laying around here.
