Roton/I Spy is now taking orders

There's no mention of a sheath. If a sheath isn't included, what is the recommended venue?

Chuck A couple of questions is that a matte finish like seems to be in the pics on the site or shiny like your orginal pics? OKay I forgot the other question. I porbaly have to get one eventually. But I also have to get 13 new benchmades and the tacyon Ohh the Humanity...............

Holy Sheet!!

I already owe $450++ on the balis that people are selling me, and now there's more!!!!!

Dawkind, What did they say the price might be for the all Damascus balis?

I'm getting a custom damascus, (shipped a week ago monday :mad

, but Damascus HANDLES!!!
That's cool....

I'll definately get one, I'ts just fourth down on my list.

Clay, I ask again, will more sheaths be comming out for these new balis?

When I get my custom, I might need to send it to you to get a sheath made.

I thought I had a good enough job to where I could afford a "knife budget", but it seems that I either need to work harder, or sell some of my "lesser" balis to afford some of these new ones.

By the way...

I recently got this Parker Custom Series all stainless bali.
View

It weighs 8.4 oz. just like the ROTON/I-Spy/Monarch.

I gives your wrist a workout, and can be a knuckle-buster, but I kinda like it!!
I can't wait to get one of those cool balis!!

Whoa, that is cool! Where from/who by? Please post pictures when you can!

Yep, the word I got was that it was earlier anticipated that they could be picked up on the 7th, but that won't happen so now it looks like they will not be shipped out to us until the 17th-20th.

I made the mistake of taking an inexpensive digital camera to the Oregon show. That camera has been great for snapshots for me. I really like it. But, it certainly showed its limitations trying to take knife pics.

The pictures from Bladeshow are the ones you want to look at. I had my "real" camera with me. Bulky, yes, but I ask you, of all the stuff you saw posted anywhere on the net, who had the best bladeshow pics?

How fast you think that puppy is going too loosen up and need an alignment?

Smoke the La, Flip the Bali.

Good question on the latch. My guess is that it's fixed Batangas-style at least on the first hundred.

As for loosening up, I don't think you're gonna see much of that. This thing is built like a tank.

Good news...Good news...it looks like it is built like a tank. That was the attraction.

When I first saw this thing, my first thought was, "Don's gonna like this one!"

But, not everyone is. Like Tachyon, Monarch is not a me-to product. Monarch has a distinctive character. It goes in a different and definite direction. If you like smaller, lighter, you'll probably prefer Tachyon. If you like bigger, heavier, then you'll probably prefer Monarch. If you're like me and you just like balisongs large and small, then you're going to be very happy all around. And, if you want a Talonite Hawkbill blade, well, you're gonna be very sorry because... I've got the only one! (Sorry, I just had to slip that in there.)

If you called Richard and talked to him real nice, you could get a knife with a Manila latch. They really wantd to break the $100 'barrier' on a top notch butterfly but it just wasn't possible. The handles are machined out of 416 stainless bar stock and the blades start as 3/16" hot rolled ATS34 that is Blanchard ground(now we're talking tolerances of .0001")to 5/32". The stainless pins are heat treated and there's a lifetime warranty! Just the software for the CNC equipment was a $10,000 investment and that's without a single knife anywhere in sight!!! To have drilled and tapped the holes in the handles for a 'changeable' latch would have added even more cost to the project and even higher consumer prices. Trust me folks, you will not be disappointed!

......Dawkind, What did they say the price might be for the all Damascus balis?......From the conversation I had with Richard, the prices aren't set yet but they will probably be in the $500-$600 range?????

No. Richard was busy at Bladeshow signing up other dealers. But, I suspect that most of the first 100 will be sold through Knifemart as the whole product ramps up.

Considering the 40 or so pre-sold at the knife show and the 46 or so sold in the last two days (as of 10:00 EST this morning), doesn't look sound like there are many left. GET 'EM WHILE THEIR HOT!

Oh, and FYI, they do come with sheaths too. Mama Mia, thats a spicey meatball!!

Chuck and Dudley,

Cool, cool, I don't particularly care for the Manila Latch, I prefer Batangas, but it would be a neat option. Or to leave it off altogether!

I can understand though and it sounds like they really have their heads set on precision and quality.

Looks like if you keep it lubricated, it might just last forever.

I prefer the heavier (STEEL) Balisongs from Production BM up through Customs, but I have to admit a fondness for the BM42 that I never thought I would feel.

Basically, if it is a Quality Unit, I like it!

I just placed my order. I had a choice of which handle the latch would be on and was told that I could change it later myself. I chose safe handle.

Also I chose to get the leather sheath. Nylon was also offered.

I ordered two and got in on the first batch.

Sounds very cool, now the waiting begins. It's the hardest part don't you know?

Hmm? Removable latch? It looks like a solid handle to me. Only way I think you could change the latch is if the latch pin was spring loaded, like the pin on a watch strap. That would be sort of ****ty. Anyone else have any insight?

Yee-dawg! This is my kinda knife! I'll be ordering with my next paycheck (what loan payment?).

Are there plans for different blades in the future (besides the damascus)? And excuse my ignorance, but whats the deal with weehawks? Why is this the "standard" balisong blade?

You can thank Jody Sampson for the blade design he came up with that defined Bali-Song Cutlery Company, as we knew it. In a very short time, the WeeHawk blade epitomized the butterfly knife and almost has become a worldwide standard, IMHO. You haven't lived until you get your hands on a Sampson ground custom WeeHawk bali; they can be a true thing of beauty!
